How to pronounce his name?

Wrong information about the leagues
[edit]It is wrong that USSR Championship was a forerunner for VTB United league. VTB is not a national championship (only secondary tournament to national leagues, like Russian premiere league) and polish and czech teams compete in VTB and of course not in USSR league. Also "The NEBL would later be absorbed into today's Baltic Basketball League." is wrong as well. NEBL was disformed and only years after that BBL was created. NEBL had finnish, russian and swedish teams (at the beginning of BBL there were only Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian teams in competition) so there is no way a league with wider geography could be absorbed by a smaller league. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.113.245.98 (talk) 14:37, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Birth in the USSR
[edit]I'm not sure if there is a uniform Wikipedia standard on this or not, but the article lists Marciulionis's birthplace as "Kaunas, Lithuania" rather than "Kaunas, Soviet Union" (or USSR). Shouldn't he be listed as born in the Soviet Union since Lithuania only regained independence in 1990? I checked a couple of articles trying to find a "standard", but the only thing I found was Vlade Divac's article which lists "Yugoslavia" for his birth and then notes that it is present-day "Serbia and Montenegro". --Jakob Huneycutt 22:14, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps Kaunas, Lithuanian SSR, but honestly I've never really noticed, I think because using the country name is pretty standard, not just for Lithuania but all the SSRs(?). heqs 22:03, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
