Requested move 13 October 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. Epicgenius correctly notes that WP generally prefers the most commonly used names in reliable sources over the official names (when they are different) (non-admin closure) В²C ☎ 16:38, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
AirTrain LaGuardia → AirTrain LGA – Although the proposed system has been referred to as "AirTrain LaGuardia" and "AirTrain LGA", the official press release by the office of New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo uses the term "AirTrain LGA". –Dream out loud (talk) 19:16, 13 October 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. - Comment I would say that the title is very much in flux and there is no clear COMMONNAME. The umbrella article for the press-release that has been quoted calls it "Laguardia Airtrain". Press reporting is all over the place with "AirTrain Laguardia", "Laguardia Airport AirTrain", "LGA AirTrain" and other permutations of abbreviations, orders and capitalisations. I'd like to approach it from a slightly different angle: how are the airports commonly referred to? My very personal experience is that "JFK", "Laguardia" and "Newark" probably are most common.pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 09:17, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. We don't base article names on official names or on primary sources such as press releases and stories purely reflecting them, but on reliable secondary sources. And the same goes for articles themselves... if this doesn't appear yet in reliable secondary sources, it should be AfDd not moved. But I note

so it has had plenty of time to appear in sources and probably does. Andrewa (talk) 19:48, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
