are expected back at Hobart, Australia, in mid-January,

[edit]

when was the orginal date of returning to Hobart? Nachum (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Time of incident: 24 or 25 December

[edit]

I have reverted the change by Gavron wrongly putting the incident on the morning of 24 Dec. What day it was in the USA is irrelevant. The time given (25 Dec 0720h AEDT), per RS, was the time of the broadcast distress message, expressed in the local time of the responsible Australian Maritime Safety Authority - Australian Eastern Daylight Time, which is UTC+11, see Time in Australia. As it happens the local time zone for the incident itself is UTC+6 for "Australian Antarctic Territory – Mawson", so 0220hJ (local), but to convert to that would presumably be WP:OR or WP:SYNTH.
