Date errors

[edit]

There must be errors in some of these dates. According to the dates on the article, she got her Bachelor's degree at age 20, her Master's at age 23, and her doctorate at age 32. Doctorate seems fine, but the others have got to be off. Agree or no? It would be helpful if there were SOURCES. Cabound 18:10, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bachelor's degree at 20 is not that unusual; masters at 23 even less so. Someone seems to have added sources anyway. Warren Dew (talk) 22:13, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Research and advocacy At 76, Galdikas arrived in Borneo to begin her field studies of orangutans in a jungle environment extremely inhospitable to most Westerners." Article goes on to state that this began 30 years of research. Perhaps this should read "In 76 . . ."? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.249.99.169 (talk) 17:12, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing Legacy

[edit]

How can she have a legacy if she is not dead?219.90.238.198 10:11, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup tag

[edit]

There was a cleanup tag added a year ago, but the article now seems pretty reasonable. I'm going to remove the cleanup tag. If you want to add it back, please state here why it's needed and what needs to be cleaned up. Warren Dew (talk) 22:15, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Author for "Who?" reference

[edit]

I expect that the identity of the person mentioned in the "Research and Advocacy" section as "one Canadian author in the late 1990s" with a "who?" reference is the same person later cited in the "Controversy" section, Linda Spalding. However, I don't know how to edit this into the wiki :-( Microwiz (talk) 12:04, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Correct page title with name spelled correctly, please

[edit]

Currently, the title of this page is "Birutė Galdikas." This uses the incorrect accent over the "e" in her first name. Instead of the raised dot, please use the acute accent. And please include her middle name, as this is her preferred title. The title of the page should thus read: "Biruté Mary Galdikas." Thank you! References

Moved it to the name with the acute accent. Most of the sources I saw did not use her middle name. If you disagree, please feel free to open a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. If someone uses my edit summary as the only reason the move would be contested, just say that I do not necessarily oppose changing the article title to include her middle name. However, if someone else contests the request, it will turn into a week-long (if not longer) requested move. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 15:26, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong move: "Birutė" is the Lithuanian spelling of her name, while "Biruté" is nonsense spawned by typographically-challanged busybodies. The article should include a mention that this person’s name is routinely botched in so many situations (it might even be her official name as a Canadian citizen!), but it should not have been renamed. Looks like you should go to WP:RM to see how to get this fixed. - UtherSRG (talk) 15:46, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
