"I did it for the lulz"[edit]

I strongly doubt that this is authentic. I may not know much about manga, but I know for sure that this is a classic line from followers of Encyclopedia Dramatica, a Wiki site with known hostilities toward Wikipedia. Moreover, the bit about Vincent's death was added by an anonymous editor with no citation. I saw Marty Alice LeGrow at Sakura Con this March. She said you guys banned her from posting on this page & that she really DID do it for the lols & that he's not commming back as a ghost or getting reincarnated. She also said that Bizenghast was now going to be 7 books long & that she didn't concider it to be a manga but a graphic novel & that her next manga was going to be done in a completely different art style. I also tracked down her contributor's number; 69.142.161.88. No offense to Mr. LeGrow, but it's highly unlikely that any irate e-mail communications to the Wikimedia Foundation would result in the deletion of the article. If he is reading this, I would suggest taking some time to familiarize himself with some core Wikipedia policies (Wikipedia:Five pillars is not a bad place to start). I think it's actually Ms. LeGrow. Personally, I've read both of the first two books, and liked both, but I don't think that wikipedia would be likely to remove this article at even the author's request. An explicitly biographical article, yes, we have removed articles on that basis, but this is not an explicitly biographical article. I also hope that she realizes that, unless we can get formal verification of her being the person responsible for edits, then we would have to consider any such edits as not sourced to reliable, verifiable source. In this case, we wouldn't be able to verify she were the editor adding that information. If she ever does have any concerns regarding the content of the article, and if she sees this, I would be more than willing to discuss any concerns she might have via e-mail, and at least try to find sourcing which would be considered relevant for any content she seeks to edit or add. Yes indeed. The author has a conflict of interest and as long as things are kept in a neutral tone and major claims/quotes are sourced then I don't think you can get a page pulled (it is debatable if someone could have their own article removed without a lot of fuss and mess). I think the main problem is with the "I did it for lulz" statement which needed sourcing. Mentioning they are dead is fine (within the limits of WP:SPOILER) adding unsourced quotes isn't. Things seem fine as they stand. Given the edit warring over this, it'd be recommended that the author voice their concerns on the talk page rather than through edit summaries and editors can look into addressing their concerns. Edit warring and making vague threats about having the page removed is only going to get the page edit protected which is not a desirable step. (Emperor (talk) 17:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Hey uh...this is Marty (M. Alice to online peoples...yes, I'm a girl). I'm not sure who the person is you said they "talked to me at Sakuracon", but I NEVER said I was banned from posting on this site, and I never said I was going to threaten Wikimedia with action about pulling the article. Srsly guys, I said (in my DeviantArt journal) that it drove me nuts people didn't like the idea of posting bout Vincent being dead and that sometimes I felt like asking them to take the whole article down cuz it was getting out of hand. Specially when people write to ME about the changes to the article, like I'm in charge of it or something.

But you'll notice I haven't done anything remotely like that, cuz its just silly. It's Wikipedia, not the United Nations. It's just the internet folks, it's nothing to freak out and take seriously. If anyone in the future wants to post something but doesn't have a source for me, feel free to write me at QueenAlice@bizenghast.com and I'll throw it up in my journal for you to link to or something.  :)

But honestly, I have no agro with Wiki! I mean I don't even have a separate bio page about me like my friend Christy Lijewski, so it's a little tough for me to take anything posted on here personally, as it's all about the boks and not even about me. Seems a bit silly.

TL;DR: Never said I was banned from this site OR that I was threatening to have this article removed!

Also, being a member of ED as well as an author, I totally do everything for the lulz.

Anyone is free to start any article on Wikipedia! If you're familiar with Bizenghast, you might be a perfect candidate for doing so. Here is a basic introduction on contributing to Wikipedia in general, which contains link to relevant information on when it's appropriate to start a new article and how to do so. There are literally thousands of articles in the Comics category that "need" entries, and a tiny handful of editors actively writing them, all volunteers who do it when they feel like it. Original research/ unproven stuff[edit]

Feel free to add back into the article with a ref:

  • In one chapter 20X6 can be seen on Dinah's Aunt's newspaper. This is a reference to Homestar Runner.
  • A silhouette of the Marvel comics character Nightcrawler is perched on the roof of the cathedral in the first chapter. Nightcrawler is one of LeGrow's favorite comic book characters.
  • On different pages of the book there are snippets of strange text in a made-up alphabet called Babbleghast. The letters look a little like Greek, but they are an original invention of the author. When decoded they spell out hidden, often humorous, messages. In chapter 3, on the statue holding the key ring, there is text that says: "This ones for you, Paul Hudson." Another reads, "Please do not feed the zombies." At the end of the first volume there is a picture of Dinah surrounded by text that resembles the Voynich manuscript.[1]
  • In the summer of 2007, Tokyopop released a series of their top selling manga into animated format, one among them was Bizenghast which was done in a "moving picture" type format. Each series has a new episode shown every week on Tokyopop T.V. Bizenghast being shown on Thursday. You can go to this link to watch the episodes http://www.myspace.com/tokyopoptv. The song on the opening title is "Feel the disease" by Kissing Violet

    Later when Dinah is in another vault, the mausoleum appears as two stones that help her overcome the depression which resulted from Vincent's death. Still doesn't work. Please try to explain here what you mean, at the moment this is nonsense. How does the mausoleum "appear as two stones"? Are you trying to say that the "spirit of the mausoleum" appears? How specifically do they help her overcome the depression? Do they talk to her? Do they have special healing powers? You have to spell it out.  Done
