Four majors?

[edit]

I thought the four majors were the Daytona 500, Coke 600, Southern 500 and the Brickyard 400. The Aaron's 499 is listed there. I don't remember any race at Talladega being considered a major. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.219.56.130 (talk) 16:05, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The idea of NASCAR's majors came from the advent of the Winston Million, when $1 million was to be awarded to whomever could win 3 of these 4 races:
  • Daytona 500 (the biggest race)
  • Winston 500 at Talladega (the fastest race)
  • World 600 at Charlotte (the longest race)
  • Southern 500 at Darlington (the oldest race)

Introduction + a few others

[edit]

I added a better summary to the introductory paragraph, and also edited much of the article for conciseness and removing unverifiable material.

And to answer a previous question, NASCAR's Career Grand Slam is indeed the four races currently listed in the article. MacArthur44 (talk) 02:46, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
