The result of the move request was: Moved to Coppel (surname)  — Amakuru (talk) 10:10, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

– put disamb. page in its proper location to make way for the most important meaning of the word Coppel, which is a hundred-million-dollar retailer, currently at Coppel (department store) Keizers (talk) 20:18, 8 August 2017 (UTC)--Relisting. This is a contested technical request (permalink). TonyBallioni (talk) 20:23, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keizers, as this would be creating a primary topic, there should be some discussion on it. I'm converting it to an RM procedurally. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:23, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • For moving. According to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, "A topic is primary for a term with respect to usage if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term.". WP doesn't "require" proof so before getting into that, I would argue that it's a reasonable assumption that a $100m+ retailer, top 5 in Mexico, is a much likelier usage than the disambiguation usage, which is simply a list of people having that last name. How often do people search by last name only...Keizers (talk) 13:21, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose it's a commonish surname. Not the primary topic outside Mexico. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:36, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's in the top 200 retailers in the world. Is a disambiguation page by last name "the primary topic" outside Mexico?Keizers (talk) 17:20, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There is no primary topic, hence a dab page. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:01, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The department store is the only topic currently on WP that could reasonably be titled "Coppel". Station1 (talk) 06:12, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. It feels to me that someone searching for "Coppel" would most often expect to be taken straight to the article about the department store, rather than to have to find and click on a link at the foot of a DAB page.
Although not relevant to a discussion about English Wiki, the department store is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in the other two Wikis where it exists, Spanish and Portuguese. That suggests that anyone in Latin America using English Wiki would expect it to be such there also. Narky Blert (talk) 18:56, 2 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, but move to Coppel (surname) instead. If the retailer is considered primary topic then the remainder is a surname list and not a disambiguation page. —Xezbeth (talk) 06:45, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. That would be fine with me. Station1 (talk) 03:36, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
