Trained for Mobil in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania

[edit]

I personally knew Calhoun as one of his regular customers in the early 1980s while he was training at a special facility operated by Mobil Oil Corporation which then stood behind one of their service stations at Easton Rd. (Pennsylvania Route 611) at Sycamore Ave., less than 0.25 miles (0.40 km) north of the Willow Grove interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

This facility was a complete corporate-owned 1950's vintage service station with repair bays and a free-standing architecturally-similar training center directly behind the service station. The trainees worked in the service station as well. These buildings have since been razed, and were replaced by a franchised Lukoil mini-market.

I had grown up a half-block west of that Mobil station, living on Sycamore Ave. from 1973-1988. When I knew him, one would have never thought him to be a former championship basketball superstar with the humble way he conducted himself. Bill S. (talk) 08:59, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
