Would Donnelly have had the genetic disease "Marfan's Syndrome" ?

[edit]

I remember, as a child, my father (from Kildare) telling us that Dan Donnelly was reputed to have arms that were very long, much longer than his height would suggest, and that this was the source of his boxing advantage. I saw the arm on TnaG4 tonight in a documentary and I thought the fingers looked very slender and long. They also described Donnelly as suddenly dropping dead at age 32.

People with the genetic disease, Marfan's syndrome typically have very long arms and what are described as spider-like hands (arachnodactyly). The mutation causing this disease affects the tissue supporting matrix, Collagen, and leads to a weakening of the aorta, the main artery of the body, so that it forms aneurysms that may rupture. If undetected, people are known to suddenly drop dead at an early age, eg 20s or early 30s.

This to me sounds a lot like Donnelly's situation .

Has anyone ever proposed this as a theory before ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.101.43.11 (talk) 02:10, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with text

[edit]

I have added the essay-like tag as the best approximation for the many problems with this text. These include a poor structuring, poor referencing of claims (and including many claims that, after so long a time, appear to be highly speculative or rumor-based), a non-encyclopedic writing style, and asomewhat hap-hazard flow of information.

Major rewrite by someone with sources and encyclopedic experience strongly recommended.

Here Here. I will try. From what i can see the sources arnt awful its just a mes of phrasing 80.226.24.6 (talk) 19:54, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
