"David went to roade school and later opened the astroturf named 'capel field'"

Looks like it is true - http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=22790 - but the way the article currently is, adding the school doesn't look too sensible. Tintin (talk) 13:49, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First Northants player for 77 years to represent England?

[edit]

The article states David Capel was the first Northants player in 77 years to win a test cap but was he? Capel was capped in 87 but in 1982 Geoff Cook and Allan Lamb of Northants were capped. The article appears to be factually incorrect. Dorkinglad (talk) 22:50, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't actually say that. It says "becoming the first cricketer from Northampton in 77 years to represent England in test cricket". I'm assuming that means the town of Northampton or perhaps born in Northamptonshire. All very unclear. Nigej (talk) 07:13, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Found this elsewhere: "in 1987 became the first Northamptonshire-born cricketer to represent England at Test level since fellow local hero George Thompson 77 years earlier." Nigej (talk) 07:17, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
