Warrants disambiguation

[edit]

David Wood is such a common name (and one for which there is no obvious one who is most notable). As a result, I created a disambiguation page for the name that looked like this:

David Wood refers to various men, including

  • David Leroy Wood (born 1964), a former professional basketball player;
  • David Wood the author of children's books such as The Phantom Cat of the Opera;
  • David Wood (born 1944), the actor awarding an O.B.E. in 2004;
  • David Wood the BBC film critic.

Hello, if the individual subject is notable then create the person's article FIRST, and THEN set about constructing a disambiguation page if it so requires — NOT in the reverse order.
I did not give an explanation to you why I reverted your edits — because you blanked the page and that is considered by me to be either vandalism or ignorance. Please read Disambiguation.

Thanks for the reply. I agree it would be better to do what you suggest (and have done that a number of times in similar circumstances). But since the John Seigenthaler Sr. Wikipedia biography controversy, unregistered users haven't been able create articles. Would you mind moving the basketball player's bio to David Leroy Wood or David Wood (athlete) or whatever your preference, then reinstating the disambiguation page? 69.3.70.175 02:17, 28 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]
Hi. Yes, I can do that. But first you need to provide the link to the other David Wood so I can construct it. thanks Downwards 03:17, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a stub you can use as a starting point for David Wood (actor). Thanks. 69.3.70.175 03:45, 28 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]
