[edit]In regards to the proposed merger of the Austin elementary school article into the DeKalb County School system article: I see no good way of merging these two articles. The destination article doesn't have any other specific elementary school information, just a list of the elementary schools, which Austin is already a part of. Adding the proposed merging information from the Austin article would ultimately create one very long and very confusing article about each school in the DeKalb County School System. I would prefer to leave the School System article as is and delete the Austin article. --Thebisch 11:17, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
There is not a word about the never-ending scandals and corruption in the district, reaching right up to the Superintendant's office. —Preceding unsigned comment added by IggyDad (talk • contribs) 03:46, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
- @IggyDad: To do that, one will need to use newspaper articles from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other major publications as sources. If major newspapers, academic journals, magazines, books, etc. (see Wikipedia:Reliable sources on that) didn't record the information, it can't be included on Wikipedia. shooting incident
[edit]Should we be naming the non-notable individual who is accused of this? I was under the impression that, except in extraordinary cases where the event received extensive, prolonged, widespread coverage (which this didn't), we omitted the names of non convicted accused perps. His name adds nothing to the understanding of the event and it can be found by reading the sources if anyone is so inclined. This isn't a newspaper. I have my doubts about the long term importance of this event and whether it should be here at all. Does it lend anything to the understanding of the school district? Gtwfan52 (talk) 18:41, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- He has been accused and presumably charged but no conviction yet, so per WP:BLPCRIME, I have removed his name. Whether the incident belongs at all needs to have a discussion. GB fan 20:00, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- The incident probably does deserve a brief mention somewhere in the article, but the whole article is such a mess that a complete re-write is going to be necessary to figure out where the proper place to mention it would be. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:22, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- See WP:Articles_for_deletion/Antoinette_Tuff for some discussion that may be relevant to this question. The AfD consensus was to delete the BLP article on Ms. Tuff, in part because her actions contributing to her (at least briefly national) notability were discussed in this article. Why was the Laurel Ridge Elementary School article merged into this one? I wrote much of the article, and don't see why it was cut and redirected to this one.

[edit]Why was the Laurel Ridge article merged into this one? I too wrote much of it. (note I am not the same guy as the two unsigned posts above.2600:1700:8D10:FE80:B5CF:95DA:D594:8ED7 (talk) 18:58, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
- @2600:1700:8D10:FE80:B5CF:95DA:D594:8ED7: Most public elementary schools will not get non-local coverage, and coincidentally will not become "notable" for wikipedia purposes. High Schools typically are notable but elementary schools are not. WhisperToMe (talk) 02:40, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Clarification about census zoning map
[edit]The 2020 US Census school district map makes it seem like a small triangle of Atlanta in DeKalb County (the one around Terry Mill Road SE]) is zoned to DeKalb schools. However the APS school locator returns APS schools when I search a relevant address. The map of Burgess-Peterson ES shows that those DeKalb slivers are in APS.
The Emory/CDC part of Atlanta will go to APS in 2024. WhisperToMe (talk) 02:06, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
