To-do list for Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon:

The character list
[edit]Playing through the game now--and I've noticed some listed characters appear in one mission and that's it. That definitely fails WP:Notability. Now, I'm not opposed to having them in, but they probably don't belong in the game article, but rather the List of Characters article. --Teancum (talk) 15:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
- Can you define 'notable character'? The game contains various NPCs that pay homage to obvious celebrities. It's necessary to complete the 'Rolo' mission in order for the game to progress. Isn't that notable enough? Snowmayne (talk) 05:54, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- Rolo also appears in more than one mission, and is also a secondary character key to the plot of Shen Long. I believe he his notable, yes. Other notable characters include: Deep Naval, James Grandee, and Jack Trippleton(a parody of Jack Nicholson, who Crypto uses as a temporay disguise in Sunnywood). I will try and add them in later. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 06:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- Notable is easy enough to define this way: If you're adding a character, do you feel like they have just gotta be in the main article, or can they go in the List of Destroy All Humans! Characters article. The main article just needs the main heroes and villains, which is why Rolo doesn't fit. And by main we're talking characters like Crypto, Pox, Saxon, The Emperor, The Master and the main villains for that city (like the mob bosses). All these secondary characters are important to add, but they belong in the list of characters article and not the game entry. I only know the notable characters up to Shen Long due to the fact that this buggy game keeps locking up on the last Shen Long mission, so I will move non-notable ones that I know over to the list article. The idea is that the article gives you a very basic list and a link to the rest of the characters. That's pretty standard for most games that are lucky enough to have a list of article. --Teancum (talk) 11:23, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

The plot should be a summary, not a reiteration
[edit]The plot needs to be shortened and summarized. It doesn't need to tell the whole story, nor does it need to talk about so many details. Questions? See the template below. --Teancum (talk) 01:50, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
This article's plot summary may be too long or excessively detailed. (December 2008) |
- The plot as it is now is a summary. The game's plot goes into much more detail than this, so much in fact that it would probably need it's own article space. If you think you can shorten it any better without making it not make sense, then please be my guest. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 02:28, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
To-Do list for Good Article nomination
[edit]The article is really coming along, and it's time we start talking about what needs to happen to get it to Good Article status, per the Manual of Style:
- Minor copy edits -- needs to be gone through to make sure every sentence makes sense, etc. The sentences should also be well written. I went through the article recently (and I know SWJS has as well) so this should mostly be complete.
- Capitalization/Decapitalization of titles DONE -- Proper nouns such as the Furon Empire or Crypto should be capitalized. Everything else, such as mothership and forun (the race) should be lower case.
- Images DONE -- should be high resolution screen captures from the game and not taken with a digital camera (sorry). If we have a digi-cam shot there it'll never pass Good Article criteria. We could also possibly use a right-justify in-game picture about 1/2 way down the plot section in order to break up the article some (making it easier to read). If anyone finds a nice shot at a video game site please link to it here and I will cover all of the image trimming, copyright coverage and uploading of it.
- Additional References -- After submitting another article for GA status I was told there were not enough references in the story section of the article. What we need to do is find more references. Any previews of the game on sites, etc and find where they can fit into those sections (for instance, if a preview mentions Crypto meeting The Master that's a good reference for that section of the plot). We also need to do this for Furon Technology and Weaponry and Psychokenisis sections.
I'd say we're really close, let's just clean up a bit more and nominate this puppy! --Teancum (talk) 23:55, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding the image issue, I could possibly get some in-game screenshots from Shen Long and the Fourth Ring of Furon, to place in the middle and at the end of the plot section. If and when I get them, I can send them to your email. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 00:12, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's fine, they just need to be actual screen captures and not taken from a digital camera. It also needs to directly apply to the section of the article, so maybe we should find a screenshot from an existing website that fits the plot section. --Teancum (talk) 00:19, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've made several small edits, mainly improving the capitalization.--Megaman en m (talk) 00:35, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
I've added an image to the plot, so that's done too --Teancum (talk) 05:34, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have 3 images, all better than the one used. Plus, I went through a lot of effort to get them. I would therefore appreciate someone at least looking at them. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 06:25, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I took a look at the site you mentioned and it is definitely a non-notable site which will cause issues with the GA nomination, that's why I didn't use them. Plus we don't need that many images. --Teancum (talk) 10:37, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I did say you could use the one that looked the best. Also, the screenshots were taken off of the actual game. That is more than notable enough. Besides, wikipedia does encourage the use of information and images from third-part sites, correct? --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 11:47, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not saying the shot isn't notable. It's that when you upload the image you have to specify who owns it (such as IGN.com, GameSpot.com, etc). If the site isn't notable then we'll have issues. I don't have anything against the site nor the screenshots, but they need to come from notable sources. It doesn't matter if it came from the game. --Teancum (talk) 12:08, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I added a new requirement at the top of this section. I recently submitted another article and it got knocked down per lack of references in specific sections. --Teancum (talk) 15:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Many references can be found in Jon Knoles' developer diaries. --SWJS: The All Knowing Destroy All Humans! Nerd(Cortex Scan) 22:34, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Hang on a moment...
[edit]Do you mind switching the format to past/present tense. The article sounds like the game hasn't come out yet. Also, a trivia section like in the articles for DAH 1 & 2 would be apreciated.68.44.96.52 (talk) 19:13, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- I updated the article to current tense. Trivia is not allowed on Wikipedia, so all trivia sections were removed. --Teancum (talk) 21:00, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
reception inconsistency
[edit]at the bottom of the paragraph on reception it states a gamerankings score of 43% while on the table to the right it states 41%, someone might fix it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.102.228.59 (talk) 06:39, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
A bit harsh?
[edit]Don't you guys think the critics were a LITTLE too harsh on this game? here's what I can see:
-Bad graphics: The graphics are similar to Crackdown, a successful game.
-Crypto and Pox annoying: Crypto and Pox have always been this funny since the first game.
-Racism: Grand Theft Auto IV had racism, and it got a perfect 10.
So really, why can't we just give this game a chance? I mean, it won't be on the console I own (I've got a PS3, and was heartbroken when ThQ ran out of money), but...wasn't chucking cars at innocent human beings fun? 64.83.204.146 (talk) 17:46, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
OPM review
[edit]Regardless of whether you agree with its verdict (I've never played the game so I can't judge), I'm amazed OPM's review isn't mentioned here. At the very least it should be on the list of scores, not only because it's the official magazine, but also because of how unbelievably harsh it is even in comparison to other reviews and especially in comparison to OPM's reviews of the first two games (which received 9/10 and 8/10 respectively). This one got ONE out of ten, and was referred to as one of the worst games ever made for the console and possibly of all time. It doesn't matter if you disagree, it ought to be on here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.76.98.239 (talk) 18:29, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
