On Russia and Ukraine

[edit]

Consider adding info (Controversy?) about his political views on Ukraine there's an article https://chytomo.com/en/fifty-propaganda-books-against-ukraine-and-incitement-to-hatred-against-ukrainians-from-russian-publishers/ about his book "Russia is Ukraine" (2021) https://www.labirint.ru/books/464546/ - condescending towards Ukrainians language, dark cursing and expression of anger, see sample in the link. Unlikely to his movie translations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.109.150.254 (talk) 19:11, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This is hilarious how Youtube keep to recomend videos with Kremlin propaganda to users with Russian IP. Funny transaltions

[edit]

I think more info on the 'funny transaltions' is needed. They are the reason he is known outside Russia. His creative 'translations' have been subtitled in languages like Bulgarian.

I added an article about the Star Wars translation. Feel free to contribute but, please, discuss first before making major changes. Also, please sign your posts. Chronolegion 17:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goblin vs. official translations

[edit]

The paragraph about how Goblin does single-voice translations leaves the impression that he's alone in this, while in reality almost all non-official Russian translations are the same way (the main differeces are, as pointed out in the arcticle, that Goblin's text is translated correctly and read more-or-less proffessionally, unlike the traditional nasal male voice that can be heard in other translations). I think the wording needs changing. CyR 15:41, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fellas and the Ring Game

[edit]

Can someone please add information on the "Fellas and the Ring" computer game created by Goblin? I only know what I've read on his website and seen in the trailer. Chronolegion 15:53, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This game is pure dumb hack-n-slash, nothing special. L.R.N 18:55, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the 'LOTR: the Two Blown Away Towers'

[edit]

I believe, that the correct translation here is 'the Two Blown Away Turrets'. In Russian, the expression 'to have one's turret blown away' means 'to flip one's lid' or 'to go out of one's mind'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.196.192.205 (talk) 21:38, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think, that translation is incorrect. Because Goblin used in titles russian slang. Therefore: LotR: The Fellas and the Ring mean Gangsta Bros and the Ring (Братва in russian language mean the members of Mafia (he call himselves Brothers or Bros)) LotR: the Two Blown Away Towers mean Two brocken Head (Сорванная Башня - "Сорви голова" - "people without King in the head" ) Yoru

The censorship in Wikipedia

[edit]

The English expletives should remain as they are in given citation. I don't understand why they should be dotted instead. Before reverting the change, please explain here why you do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.82.20.116 (talk) 14:49, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shmatrix

[edit]

Шмат means big piece of meat or fat, I can say it because I'm Russian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.244.185.70 (talk) 18:39, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 21:05, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

His studio name is Divine Spark. Worked in the library of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on the post of librarian. Logo style is grotesque, hyperbole. The logo shows a person with impaired vision. Similar to the 3d effect distortion.[1] Any glasses has this effect. The author uses it because he familiar with the film industry (and the laws of optics which it uses). The logo conveys the emotional background arising at a man in the glasses when considering by him the external objects relatively to their normal consideration (in the lenses, or with healthy eyes). But at the same time there is no glasses on the person on the logo. The style of the author as a translator is reflected in the logo. For binding of the spectator to his translations he's doing exactly this manner. The author thus engages the viewer emotionally by passing this effect.
