[edit]Who stated that Don Carcieri grew up in an Italian neighborhood? How Italian is East Greenwich? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.153.38 (talk) 04:01, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Can someone other than a Democratic Party hack write a bio on the guy? This is nothing but negative crap and political spin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.150.53.130 (talk) 23:09, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Wow, Rhode Island politics get a lot of attention. -Beavis
Portrait
[edit]The picture is not of Governor Carcieri, but of Governor Fletcher of Kentucky.
The current picture - poorly scaled as it is - is definitely of Governor Donald Carcieri. --Roger Williams 09:26, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I've taken and added a "faithful reproduction" of his official portrait, which hangs in the RI State House. It's formal, appropriate, and presumably a better likeness. - Kzirkel (talk) 23:20, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
Granddaughter
[edit]I know his granddaughter. How do I source the info about his family?Everyoneandeveryone 23:03, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
As I understand it, she needs to publish the information in a form that can be sourced here. For example, a blog post. - Kzirkel (talk) 23:20, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
Same-sex marriage
[edit]Are his opinions on same-sex marriage really the most important thing about the governor of a million people, enough that they belong in the lead? If they are, the context should be included in the article. The context being that his likely veto would block marriage equality in Rhode Island...except the leaders of the assembly appear to oppose such a bill anyway.Bennetto (talk) 06:05, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- It doesn't seem to be relevant enough to him to be in his introduction, especially since all he's done is join an organiation and oppose it. It hasn't really been much of a part of his career or why he's noteworthy... 98.168.192.162 (talk) 12:43, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- It isn't. I removed that from the lede, and added it to the anti-gay marriage controversy section. Horologium (talk) 03:44, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- On a similar topic, it seems odd that he is listed as the "last remaining" New England Governor to oppose Same Sex Marriage, implying that politicians with this view are a dying breed, when this is most likely not true. It is still a debated issue, even in New England. Wouldn't it be more neutral to list him as being the "only sitting" New England Governor to oppose Same Sex Marriage? Finally, this isn't even true. Jodi Rell of Connecticut, (part of New England) has stated multiple times that she is against gay marriage.--76.118.116.34 (talk) 17:47, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
73rd Governor ?
[edit]According to Carcieri's governor official website, he's the 57th Governor of Rhode Island. There's something wrong at List of Governors of Rhode Island article. GoodDay (talk) 19:56, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
I think the discrepancy arises because the governor's website is counting governors under the current state constitution that was instituted after Dorr's Rebellion in the 1840s. The list of governors in Wikipedia is correct but it starts with the U.S. Revolution. In actuality if the colonial governors were counted back to 1638, then the list would be longer still. 38 Studios Scandal
[edit]Why nothing about his spending over $100 million in public money to attract 38 Studios to RI? It turned into a total loss? The company made video games and was founded by former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling. It couldn't find any private investors. Bostoner (talk) 01:38, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
