Bishop Danald Pelotte,(Pilotte to be correct) relatives came from Canada. Frampton,Qc to be exact. The parents immigrated to the U.S. and there had and raised their children. Donald had many uncles and cousins in the area. |

Abenaki
[edit]IP user @User:216.31.233.178, please read the Indigenous WikiProject's guidelines on determining Indigenous identity. If you are certain that Pelotte is Abenaki, please provide sources indicating which Abenaki tribe you believe he is either a citizen of or is a descendant from. This must be a federally or state recognized tribe. Thank you. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 17:18, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- The links in the citations (multiple) indicated Pelotte's lineage. Multiple articles linked spoke on who he is connected to and descendant from. Because of the graphic nature of his death and the need for privacy of his family, it's not appropriate or safe for certain details to be public. There are on-going issues of stalking and harassment of Abenaki people online, regardless of their enrollment status, with very real safety concerns. Indigenous WikiProject is not an authority on or determining on Indigenous identity. Thank you. 216.31.233.178 (talk) 22:31, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- Not one of those sources indicates that he or his father were members of any federally or state recognized Abenaki tribe. If you cannot demonstrate which Abenaki tribe he is a citizen or a descendant of, preferably from a tribal source, you have nothing other than self-identification. Self-identification does not mean that he doesn't have Abenaki heritage. It means that we don't yet have sources to verify the claim. Please provide those sources.
