Content discussion[edit]

This article requires a large amount of expansion. Especially, in relation to Donny's success as ateen idol in th early '70s. Donny was absolutely massive in the UK in 1972 / 1973 and this needs to be emphasised. Osmondmania type fan worship had not been seen in the UK since The Beatles.

The part played by Tony Prince and Radio Luxembourg in the early 70s in introducing Donny and the Osmonds to a Europea audience could also be included.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.31.78.228 (talkcontribs) 2006-05-30 17:26:20.

I agree! Why don't you add some content? DavidBailey 22:37, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Emphasising Donny's success in the U.K. is one thing, but it's another when trivial information is added that gives his bio a U.K. leaning...he is after all, American.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.234.89.147 (talk) 01:07, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why does it list a death date?Just curious, since its a date in the future.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.103.28 (talk) 20:45, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

Moving the trivia into the article has left the text feeling disjointed, and some of the trivia was removed. I think it would be better to pull these various interesting tidbits back into a trivia or "fun facts" section and leave the narrative for substantial events in chronological order. White & Nerdy video(s)[edit]

Donny appeared for about 30 seconds of footage in Weird Al's "White & Nerdy" video. A bluescreen take ([1]) was released on YouTube about two weeks ago by a user who might be Weird Al ([2]), or at least a representative. The bluescreen take features Donny dancing while Weird Al raps, for the entire duration of the song. Hilarious, to be sure, but would it be appropriate to note this, in this article? (Sorry for my clumsy HTML). -Tim (Littlebluedog 19:20, 8 February 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Jeff Beck's Ambitious video[edit]

Donny also appeared briefly in Jeff Beck's 1985 video for "Ambitious." ([3]) In the video, he & many other singers are waiting for an audition to see who gets to sing the lead vocals for the song. When Donny gets to the front of the line, the talent agent at the desk asks him his name & what work he's done lately. Donny thinks for a second & then says, "Well, I used to sing with my brothers and then I sang with this chick named Marie and I also did a few songs on my own..." The talent agent then cuts him off & says "Take a number & have a seat!" It's a pretty funny video & not one you'd expect to see Donny in. It also has a strange cast of celebrities including: Dr Joyce Brothers, Cheech Marin, Parker Stevenson and even Tatoo from Fantasy Island! Oh yeah, You actually do get to watch & hear Donny sing a verse from the song about half way through the video. He sounds pretty good too. - Zach NijhtOwl 23:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate?[edit]

The December 4 page linked to this page, saying his birthday is Dec 4, 1962, but this page lists some other date. I have no idea what his actual birthdate is, but something is clearly wrong on wiki, either this page or rht December 4 page.70.225.216.76 05:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was announced on O'Grady's show that donny will be 50 this year so 1957 is correct MotorSportMCMXC 14:58, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well in that case and the date here (May 1957) is correct if he got married in December 1978 he was not 20 but 21. PhilomenaO'M (talk) 18:34, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

December 9, 1957 is correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.67.234.133 (talk) 22:39, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alleged POV edit[edit]

"Calling his style "bland" is highly POV." Fair enough, although you also removed the reference to his singular style, which few would dispute or even call POV. 130.156.29.50 14:55, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. "Singular" is not as POV as "bland", but it is still POV, and I really fail to see what it adds to the comment. It reads as a dig at him, IMHO, especially given that it was originally followed by "bland", which is definitely a dig at him. It adds nothing constructive to the fact of his new release. - TexasAndroid 15:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Donny comes home[edit]

How come there is nothing about this?[4]

is he situs inversus? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.230.230.69 (talk) 20:35, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chronology[edit]

I think it would make more sense to arrange the info about his career chronologically rather than separating by medium (music/tv/stage). The TV series with Marie was an extension of their singing careers, his stage work has been musical, etc. - Jason A. Quest (talk) 14:51, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shelby Hansen[edit]

The sentence about Shelby Hansen is not a proper sentence. I think it means his second grandchild is from his second son's marriage to Shelby Hansen, but since there is no citation, I can't rewrite it without verification.24.107.137.117 (talk) 01:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bruno Tonioli[edit]

"That following week he danced a Rumba and scored 21 however after his comments he "attacked" judge Bruno Tonioli who is openly homosexual." I think any reasonable person reading this would think that Donny had attacked Bruno verbally for his sexual orientation. Certainly what I thought, and I was much relieved to read elsewhere that he had not done this. Anyway, the wording isn't good so I'm changing it, anyone else feel free to edit it further to make it better. Babooshka2002 (talk) 16:57, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wife's Details[edit]

The details on his wife are mind-numbing. Do we need to know her favorite movie? Her wedding dress details? How her voice sounds when talking? HER FAVORITE SNACK (veggies and dip!)? No. Toothis (talk) 18:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dancing with the Stars[edit]

Paranoidbeemer (talk) 14:56, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As he accepted his trophy, he hugged fellow finalist Mya and grabbed his wife, Debbie, and his sister, Marie, on stage.

Is this seriously a sentence on Wikipedia? I mostly just mention this to make fun of it, but I'd remove it or move it to a Dancing with the Stars page.

Injury[edit]

I've just noticed from Donny's website that he suffered an injury last summer which was bad enough to keep him from performing for a few weeks, and I've found another link which mentions it. I think it might be worth mentioning in the article;

Radio in the UK[edit]

If someone can find a citation to back it up it could be noted that Donny Osmond is on the radio in the UK taking over Steve Wright’s normal two-hour slot of “Sunday Love Songs”. He was on last week and will be on again next week.Tomandzeke (talk) 13:31, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Baketballs[edit]

Just a quick aside... The whole Donnie Basketballs thing stems from a Super Carlin Brothers J vs. Ben video dated July 23. The correct answer to one of the quiz questions was Donny Osmond, but the joke answer written was Donnie Basketballs. So as has been done already, edits changing his birth name to Basketballs are to be immediately reverted as edits not in good faith (unless someone can find an actual reliable source saying it was). Slambo (Speak) 02:35, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Exact year of birth[edit]

It says on the lead the Donny Osmond was born in 1957, but in the early life section, the year was changed to 1958. Which is correct? 2001:569:78BA:4A00:F4A2:C08D:172:2705 (talk) 21:50, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Didn’t he sing the song “Ben”?[edit]

The one related to a movie. I didn't find it in the article. Misty MH (talk) 20:10, 2 November 2023 (UTC) Misty MH (talk) 20:10, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

He did. It is included in the 2014 album "The Soundtrack of My Life". Thanks for pointing it out. I just updated the song's page with the information. SugaShikaoFans (talk) 06:36, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
