[edit]Can we possibly expand the biography section and move the list of schools to either a new page or to another existing one such as Congregation of Christian Brothers? I am willing to expand the article but would like to hear others' opinions on moving the list of schools. Soundabuser 23:05, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think you're right. The biography definitely needs to be expanded, and the school would probably more suited on the Congregation page.--Eyrezer 21:47, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ok well to start I'll cut and paste the list of schools to the Congregation page and then make a start on the bio. Apologies if it takes a while Soundabuser 06:35, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
There was no English Parliament in 1765 and had not been for 60 years. Following the Act Of Union of 1707 the best way to refer to it is as the British Parliament.82.13.33.165 22:32, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Good point, and duly altered. Rob Lindsey 22:35, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Altered again to Irish parliament which passed the relevant laws for Ireland until 1800. Some were also passed and repealed by the British Parliament in London.86.42.200.34 11:48, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, didn't know where else to add this, I am a decedent of Edmund's Brother Thomas, on my fathers mothers side, and though the information I have through our geneology is minor I don't know how to add it nor am I aware of how to properly cite it. Minor information is as follows - Edmund married at the age of 25 which would make it 1787 not 1785, and Mary Elliot is listed as his wife, not as a possibility. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.3.100.186 (talk) 05:55, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
Aquinas
[edit]The article needs an explanation for why it is in Category:Aquinas College, Perth. I don't doubt it is legitimate; it just needs an explanation. Hesperian 12:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Relic
[edit]I believe that there is at least one relic of Edmund Rice in the RC cathedral in Waterford. Millbanks (talk) 18:11, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Schools and 1782 Act
[edit]It spoils a good martyrdom story, but Irish Catholic schools were legal again from 1778-80. Already there were over a dozen in Dublin, Nano Nagle had started her work and St. Patrick's, Carlow was set up in 1782 when EIR was 20. In 1795 the British paid for St Patrick's College, Maynooth. So this is going: "All of Edmund's educational activities were illegal in the eyes of the authorities in Ireland, in that no Roman Catholic was allowed "to fund, endow or establish any school, academy or college".86.42.201.128 (talk) 07:59, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
