I'm concerned this article might be too soon. He went viral last week and there is no way of knowing whether there will be sustained coverage of him beyond 15 minutes of fame. If anyone else has any thoughts, I would appreciate hearing them, but to me this very well could end up being a case of WP:BLP1E. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:29, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I don't feel that WP:BLP1E applies here, as coverage of a video series cannot really count as a single event in the traditional sense. Likewise, WP:TOOSOON generally deals in potentially notable subjects for which valid coverage does not exist. Elijah has a lot of coverage behind him, granted in a small time frame, from reliable, international sources. It's certainly not a source of ineligibility to be famed so suddenly, and even if it isn't sustained in the long-term, that would be true of many viral celebrities (reality stars, etc). I created the article having been surprised Wikipedia didn't have an article already, and support its survival. It would be amiss to remove it on a hunch that it may be a mere fifteen minutes of fame when it's so well referenced, given the volume of reliable coverage available. (The kicker for me is when it crosses from sites such as BuzzFeed and The Huffington Post into full features in national newspapers and on sites such as Yahoo! Finance, demonstrating coverage beyond a web niche.) Of course, you are welcome to nominate the article for AFD if you object, where I would predict a split discussion and likely result of no consensus at this stage. Katy B. Right, I agree with some of your points here, and agree that AfD would likely lead to no consensus at this time. Agree that the video series isn't BLP1E in the traditional sense, but also think that creating an article about viral video stars about a week and a half after they got their media coverage might be too quick. My view is that the best option is probably to wait and see if coverage continues, and if it doesn't take to AfD. Mainly placed the tag so we might get some more discussion here before heading that route. TonyBallioni (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Numerous attempts have recently been made to change Elijah's age to the year 2000 (or even younger). It's widely documented that he was born in 1993 (a cursory search of reliable sources, his own tweets before his fame, etc) and his birth can be found in records (whereas nobody with his name was born in 2000). I suspect that perhaps someone with a COI is making these changes as it is my belief his management would perhaps prefer he be seen as 16-17 years old for marketing reasons. If this and various other pieces of recent vandalism continue, it may be necessary to semi-protect the article. KaisaL (talk) 18:02, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Due to potentially serious vandalism and BLP violations (including one that accused an individual of murder) I have semi-protected for a week. KaisaL (talk) 18:10, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the 2005 birthdate from the infobox, but also think the current sourcing as to the birthdate that is in the article might run against the spirit of WP:DOB. The general registrars records are widely published by reliable sources and the other sources that I did a spot check through mainly discuss the deleted Tweet. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:24, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This article is still proving a magnet for vandalism. It's also clear that somebody, or multiple people, want him to be listed as 16-17 years old. I'm not sure why they're taking this route given almost all press coverage at the height of his fame focused on him actually being 23, and those are the reliable sources we have. I'll continue to revert and re-protect if necessary, unless reliable sources confirm his age as being younger, there's no justification for changing that content. (It's a BLP issue to allow the changes, too, especially when some of them listed him as a minor.) KaisaL (talk) 18:51, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
