Anglo-Welsh or English[edit]

Elizabeth was born in Wales to a noted Marcher family (The Mortimers) who were of mixed Norman- Welsh ancestry. I don't see how she could be called English instead of the correct Anglo-Welsh. Had she been born in Ireland, she would have been called Norman-Irish or Anglo-Irish, no?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 17:03, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jeanne. I think the concept of Anglo-Welsh is a modern one which would not have been considered by Elizabeth. She would have thought of herself as a member of the English nobility. Her place of birth would not have affected that. --Doug (talk) 08:55, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll accept that. English is probably a better description of her anyway seeing as she had a claim to the English throne, and as you say, would have considered herself a member of the English nobility. Thank you for responding, Doug.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 09:32, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
