Death
[edit]Cause of death? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 04:32, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
"Despite this loss..."
[edit]Muir suffered a spontaneous medical condition requiring the surgical removal of one testicle. Despite this loss, he later fathered two children.
Oh come on. Does anyone think the loss of a testicle would make him unable to father children? Or is this meant to be funny in some way? Flapdragon (talk) 10:54, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's not in the article now, however I think he said it in his autobiography, A Kentish Lad, and definitely himself meant it ironically. Si Trew (talk) 07:43, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Forename
[edit]Was his first name really Frank, not Francis? I have read his autobiography A Kentish Lad but gave it away to someone else so can't check. Si Trew (talk) 02:00, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- The only mention of his full name in A Kentish Lad is on page 15. 'Granny did not languish long as a young widow. She soon married the son of an inspector of lighthouses for Trinity House, Frank Herbert Webber, after whom I was christened (I could have done without the Herbert).' His entry in the DNB has 'Frank' (http://www.oxforddnb.com/index/69/101069233/) as did every one of his newspaper obits, so I think it's a pretty safe assumption it's Frank. Media Executive
[edit]Muir was more than a writer and broadcaster. The lede ought to acknowledge his work with the BBC and ITV as an executive. 220.240.82.127 (talk) 05:29, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
