Fair use rationale for Image:Germanwings logo.png
[edit]Image:Germanwings logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Initial reports
[edit]It was initially reported that a pilot had made a very short mayday call but this was later denied. I have removed this erroneous report from the main article.
This aircraft flew for over nine minutes at just over 400 kts on a steep descent and in a straight line before hitting a mountain. Clearly one of two things occurred. Either there was a complete loss of control including communications or the crew were unconscious.
According to radar, this aircraft achieved a cruising speed of 427 kts and an altitude of 38,000 feet around 9.27am. At 9.29 and while still over the Mediterranean, southwest of Toulon, its speed suddenly increased and reached a max of 515 kts at 09.30.21. At 09.31.00 the aircraft made a very slight course correction and immediately started a long steep and straight line descent. Interestingly, the aircraft speed dropped off very slowly to 447 kts recorded at 09.37.13 while the aircraft was at 16,915 feet. This was the last radar report according to my software.

Of course most material should be from secondary sources but it may help to have a primary source: the airline's menu: https://www.germanwings.com/content/dam/germanwings/downloads/SkyBistro.pdf - Menu is for March-May 2015: http://www.webcitation.org/6XJyv1cqE - Here is the previous menu (Archive) WhisperToMe (talk) 16:58, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
