Steve Jones and Gethin Jones
[edit]Are Steve Jones and Gethin Jones brothers? They look the same, have the same surname and are Welsh, surely they are? In which case, it should be highlighted in both articles. --Charlie Huang 【正矗昊】 12:12, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- No they are not brothers as it's says on the Blue Peter Website that he has a sister in facts about Gethin. They are also from different areas of Wales. Hope this has answered your question 172.141.26.213 19:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Doctor Who
[edit]I've added Gethin's exact role in this year's Doctor Who, namely a Dalek in Journey's End. It was mentioned on Blue Peter on Tuesday. Digifiend (talk) 09:39, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks. Could you or Oyster24 also provide a reference for the information about Jones's latest participation in Doctor Who in the main article? — Cheers, Truth's Out There –talk– 15:14, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, Oyster24. The reference you provided is not suitable. It's a link to an excerpt from a Blue Peter episode that was uploaded to YouTube in violation of the BBC's copyright. Linking to websites that carry works in violation of the creator's copyright is against Wikipedia policy: see "Wikipedia:Copyrights#Linking to copyrighted works". Can you find a news report that mentions the information? Thanks. — Cheers, Truth's Out There –talk– 23:02, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Though that link was clearly unnacceptable, what reason is there for not using the episode itself? OK, so you found out that it's a reference though illicit means, but that doesn't stop the episode being a reference... TalkIslander 23:21, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I found an article on Digital Spy about Doctor Who. I trust that this is OK! Oyster24 (talk) 07:09, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- The Blue Peter website must have details. Can't check myself right now, BBC.co.uk is blocked by a company firewall. Digifiend (talk) 09:21, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Evil company, work elsewhere ;). That aside, I search the BP website last night, couldn't find anything. If we've got a digital spy reference, though, that's good. TalkIslander 13:25, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, referring to the episode itself (without a link to a website in breach of copyright) is fine if the broadcast date and channel are stated, though of course a citation linked to a website that readers can view for themselves is even better! Thanks. — Cheers, Truth's Out There –talk– 19:01, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I am not sure they would mention the fact that Gethin is playing a Dalek on the BBC website. It might be on the Blue Peter page.Oyster24 (talk) 06:37, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Mighty Boosh and Blind Date
[edit]In his radio programme on Five Live on Saturday 12 July, Gethin stated that he hasn't appeared in either of these programmes.Oyster24 (talk) 13:41, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm, has he been reading his Wikipedia article? (Hi, Gethin!) :-) — Cheers, Truth's Out There –talk– 19:15, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, he has! He mentioned it in the Five Live programme yesterday and also in an article in OK (I think). Oyster24 (talk) 21:30, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Lottery Awards programme: significant?
[edit]Hi, Oyster24. About the latest information that you inserted concerning Jones presenting the Lottery Awards programme – is this particularly significant? The article should only contain projects that Jones was and is engaged in that are likely to have long-term significance, otherwise it will soon become inordinately long. — Cheers, Truth's Out There –talk– 10:51, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- It is significant as he has been the face of the Lottery Awards in all the promo. He is also presenting one of the awards on the night. It is just one more thing he is in following his departure from Blue Peter, which shows how popular he is, with the programme makers as well as the public! It don't see the problem! Oyster24 (talk) 14:10, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
My point is that Jones is no doubt currently involved or going to be involved in the future in a lot of projects both with the BBC and with other companies. If editors keep adding "Jones has appeared in ABC" and "Jones will be featuring in DEF" without stopping to consider whether these are significant projects, then the "Presenter" section of the article (not to mention the article itself) is going to get far too long and filled with non-notable and unencyclopedic information. I think preference should be given to projects that are (1) regular rather than one-off, and (2) with a high profile and high viewership. I don't think the mere fact that a certain programme is "one more thing [Jones] is in following his departure from Blue Peter" is itself a good reason for mentioning it. Are the Lottery Awards a high-profile event in the UK? Perhaps you can add something to the article about their significance. — Cheers, Truth's Out There –talk– 06:53, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
The Lottery Awards are high profile as most people who play the lottery like to see where their money is going. It isn't an "award" show like the Oscars or Brits. It is where the large sums of money are being awarded. For instance a large sum was given to the British Cycle team for the Olympics and look what that did! Team GB won a great many gold medals because of this funding.
However I do understand what you are saying about him being in one thing after another. Oyster24 (talk) 14:23, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Quiz show
[edit]He presents a rugby themed quiz show on S4C as well. I think it's called Cwis Meddiant. 79.69.52.184 (talk) 21:22, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

This 2008 Good Article relies on self-published sources such as IMDB and has some unsourced bits that have been tagged. Additionally, I think that the subject's post-2012 activities are not as meaningfully covered as the others, which concerns criteria 5b. Spinixster (trout me!) 01:55, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
