Repetition in Career Section

The first and third paragraphs of the Career section are very similar: [3rd paragraph] "Kang's literary career began when she published five poems including “Winter in Seoul", in the winter issue of Literature and Society in 1993." versus [1st paragraph] "Kang began her published career when five of her poems, including "Winter in Seoul," were featured in the Winter 1993 issue of the quarterly Literature and Society."

Untitled

This needs to be renamed to "Han Kang" as that is the Romanization that the author uses on her fiction. It was my mistake ^^ to name it this way.. Ccmontgom (talk) 08:58, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mongolian Mark is not included on the publication list

Inappropriate “first” in first paragraph

The first paragraph says “It’s the first of her books to be translated into English.” That fact is meaningless and insulting for a human being and writer’s top-line biography. It’s an inappropriate fixation on a “first” that is pointless in context, an inappropriate fixation on English, and an inappropriate fixation on a *book* trivia in a first paragraph personal bio. Since Wikipedia is often run by misguided enforcers of mistaken beliefs, I haven’t changed the line. RandomEditor6772314 (talk) 15:15, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed part of your complaint and clarified the Booker Prize situation, but this is the English language version of Wikipedia. Articles on authors who do not write in English are made more helpful to readers who read only English by referencing translations of their works into English. Our articles are meant to be helpful to readers of English. By the same token, articles in the French or German Wikipedias should tell readers about books translated into either of those two languages. There are plenty of other articles in Wikipedia that really are overly Eurocentric or Americacentric that can benefit from your attention. Pascalulu88 (talk) 18:49, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete bibliography

The books in bibliography need references at least an ISBN for the Korean ones. Also Mongololian Mark and Fire Tree seems to be missing... ReyHahn (talk) 06:57, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article now says Mongolian Mark is the second part of The Vegetarian. It also gives the impression that Fire Tree might be part of The Vegetarian as well. Bibliography

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section:

Cite templates will be used where possible.
Tables may be used to organise short stories, poems and/or book reviews.
I prefer capitalization and punctuation to follow the standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, rather than "title case".
Links (either direct or indirect) to potentially unreliable or incomplete digitised copies and to booksellers may be removed.

Bibliography with template

@Create a template, sorry, but despite its crispness the bibliography looks kind of stupid now. All the unnecessary redundancy: why the line in front of the entry as stand-in for the author (the author and her work are the subject of this lemma!), to name the language she is writing in, which is her mother-tongue and obviously the only language she is writing in. Why flags?! English is an international language, emphasizing (nationalism,) the nationality of the publishing house is, I don't know, at least odd.

On the other hand the way the list looks like now disarranges more than it is definite. Although the UK and UK/US translations are both by Deb. Smith it is unclear, if it is the same translation. Since it is, which is of dominant importance, the second release is just a re-edition of the first (It would be interesting, if there is a foreword now or something else added, which would distinguish this edition from the original).

And another point is the separation of Korean original and English translation. There are cases, where it is now unclear, of which book the translations are of, and one has to guess, instead of being distinct in the first place. (Beside the imho unnecessary ISBN for the Korean editions on en.WP) the English translations should be unambiguously connected to their original editions. My last point is, that it is ambiguous, if the translations behind the Korean titles are the titles of the translations or translations of the titles (which is not the same), thus again a redundancy while omitting something interesting (a deviation from the orig. title), or it is a literal translation of the orig. title, then it wouldn't be a title, and not spelled as such (with upper cases), instead lower cases in "" (as it already was before).
