Lebanese River - POV[edit]

The river flows in both Lebanon and Israel. It also forms part of the Lebanon-Israel border. As such, it is both a Lebanese river, and an Israeli one. Compare with Tigris - it is not defined as a "Turkish River", though its sources are wholly within Turkey, but rather as a river which "flows from the mountains of southeastern Turkey through Iraq." Instead of the POV phrasing "The Hasbani is a Lebanese river" (or it's counter part POV phrasing 'The Hasbani is an Israeli river'), I have described it factually as a tributary of the Jordan, whose sources are in Lebanon, which flows into Israel. Thanks for the link, I was able to read the page for myself. It does seem to verify the part about "In 1955, US ambassador Johnston negotiated the Jordan Valley Unified Water Plan", but the "important precedent" part does not seem to appear on that page, nor the "existing utilization patterns" part. Perhaps instead of removing the information entirely though, it would have been better to just edit it down to what was actually sourced? Sources are good things, so when there's a reliable source on an article, I am usually loathe to remove it. :) --El on ka 05:29, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
