Diffusing edit war
[edit]I'm hoping this is an olive branch to stop this edit war. I updated the lede with reliable sources (despite MOS:CITELEAD but whatever) that support both statements (i.e. "moderate" and "one of most conservative", as these are not mutually exclusive statements). Curbon7 (talk) 05:06, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
Heavily Biased Political positions section
[edit]Several lines of the Political opinions section show heavy bias and do not accurately document a neutral point of view. Some examples:
- On the private prison line citing a site called Rewire News, a clearly biased source from a quick glance at their website.
- The line "Cuellar voted to continue funding NSA surveillance of U.S. citizens who are not suspected of committing any crime, in violation of their Fourth Amendment rights according to some views of the amendment." seems opinionated and lacked any source
I removed these lines for these reasons. Colin dm (talk) 22:45, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
Language regarding political stance on abortion
[edit]Is "anti-abortion" the preferred language for a candidate that has never supported a blanket ban? If so, a citation is needed. Wikipedia politics articles are often of poor quality, but edit warring to change the more colloquial label "pro-life" or "supports some abortion restrictions" to "anti-abortion" is embarrassing. I tried to change "anti-abortion" to "pro-life," but the change was reverted by AlsoWukai without comment. Perhaps all wikis for political representatives will now have edit warring over labels such as "pro-life" and "anti-choice." That will not make a good encyclopedia, but I guess that isn't the point, is it? 98.97.33.242 (talk) 06:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- I checked the source, and it says "Cuellar opposes abortion". I think this is straightforward and neutral language (and what is verified by the source), so I made the change. Marquardtika (talk) 14:25, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
2024 Indictment
[edit]The Congressman & his wife were indicted, arrested and released on bail on bribery charges May 3, 2024. Worth an update, but only iimited information available so far — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:285:8200:C7E0:6DBF:404E:AA9:AFD5 (talk) 00:15, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, it was added to the article more than five hours before you wrote this. Did you try reading the article first? -- Pemilligan (talk) 01:39, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
