Comments[edit]

I don't see why a citation is needed, if you listen to both songs you hear the lyrics are different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.130.74.26 (talk) 22:06, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste rename[edit]

An editor has been attempting to move this article to I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song) and leave a disambiguation page in its place. The move was done incorrectly (via a cut and paste). That can be fixed, but is there consensus that this move is the right thing to do? Meters (talk) 20:28, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste version has now been deleted, so we can move this properly if we decide it's a good idea.
I'm not convinced that a move is required, and if it is I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song) is not the appropriate title. The article is actually about the song, not just the Montgomery version of it. Two groups had very good success with the song, nearly at the same time. Based on the success of the song it seems to me that this article should stay under its current name. Meters (talk) 22:06, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 02 May 2016[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Moved.  — Amakuru (talk) 17:42, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song)I Swear – this move has already been contested once (by being reverted) - if the page is to move from I Swear, a move discussion should take place. – Niceguyedc Go Huskies! 21:02, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Niceguyedc and Meters: This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:09, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I'm confused. Could the poster please explain which version of I Swear is intended to be the final version? Is the label backwards? The DAB page has been moved to a proper disambiguation, with a comment that no further moves should be made without a move request, but the original move of the article stands. The original title of the article containing all of the info about the Montgomery song and various versions of it was I Swear. The disputed move was to I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song). The mover had been blocked for edit warring twice over this and is at AN3 again for making restoring the move again as soon as his block ended with no response to attempts to discuss the move on the article's talk page or his talk page [1]. I started a discussion of the move on the talk page almost 3 weeks ago (now renamed to Talk:I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song)#Cut and paste rename). I don't care where the article ends up. It didn't seem like a necessary move but I was looking for other opinions. It seemed to me that the primary topic was alright as it was (without specifying the Montgomery song) since only a very small percentage of the page looks (last 3 months) for I Swear continued on to either of the other articles, but of course there is no way to tell how many of the lookups were not looking for any of topics. Meters (talk) 22:53, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters: The page is currently at I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song), and I'm asking for it to be moved back to I Swear. Only an administrator can make this move, as the wiki will not allow me to make the move (which I would have done). After this reversion is complete, if a user wants to move the song to a title different than I Swear, they should start a requested move discussion. -Niceguyedc Go Huskies! 23:12, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why not just go ahead and make the inevitable disambig page instead? Dicklyon (talk) 23:28, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The disambiguation page has already been made (it is at I Swear (disambiguation)). -Niceguyedc Go Huskies! 23:31, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick clarification. Meters (talk) 23:44, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

This move request was closed as Moved, but it was not moved. The request was to undo the undiscussed and contested move by a now-indeff'ed editor. The original article was at "I Swear", not "I Swear (John Michael Montgomery song)". The discussion seems to support restoring the original title as the primary topic. Meters (talk) 17:49, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Meters: apologies, in fact I did move the article itself earlier but this talk page got left behind in the move. That happens occasionally, but I should have noticed it. I've now moved the talk page so hopefully all is well. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 21:11, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oops. Sorry. I should have notice that. Thanks. Meters (talk) 21:50, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Another Latin American version of the song[edit]

(Writing from my job's PC)

Dear all: I noticed that a 90s song very famous in South America was, in fact, a Country song, which was popularized by Brazilian duo Leandro e Leonardo both in Portuguese and Spanish.

Here you'll find more information about the project and the success of the song in both Brazil and Spanish-speaking Latin America.

This piece could be useful as complementary information about the links between American Country Music and popular Brazilian music styles such as Sertanejo Romântico and Sertanejo Universitário.
