[edit]

Most of the entry is pulled word for word from his personal site. Is that appropriate? Pgrote (talk) 23:37, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No. --DThomsen8 (talk) 16:26, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Health issues

[edit]

DePreist appears to have battled polio, kidney disease (according to Allmusic), and a heart attack. Is there a way to group these together, perhaps in a "Health problems and death" section, or a "Personal life" section. The health issues were spread throughout his lifetime, though, and perhaps even unrelated. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:35, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio?

[edit]

Looks to me like the entire "Guest appearances" section is a copy-paste from the Julliard site. Sometimes, though, the apparent RS has lifted material from Wikipedia. Not sure about this one. Any thoughts? Finetooth (talk) 21:39, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hard to tell. I feel like some of the same text appears at Allmusic, NEA and Wikipedia as well. I was trying to go through the article and just change the wording a bit, adding references along the way. I have not yet worked on the guest appearances section, though. Your contributions to this article are appreciated. It would be nice to get this one to Good status eventually, though that may take some time given his long career. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:54, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've nudged the paragraph in the direction of paraphrasing rather than copying. Probably needs more tweaking. Finetooth (talk) 01:09, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

I'm unfamiliar with the specific guidelines for music biographies. I was going to add an infobox but saw the warning note. I began to alter the language of the discography paragraph, then realized that probably the 15 recordings meant or might mean 15 CDs. This led to the thought that a complete list might be a good idea. It's here, but I think I should follow your lead on this, AB. You've done a lot of music-related articles, and I've done none. There may be a particular way of formatting these things, as tables maybe? Finetooth (talk) 01:07, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Let me think about this. A discography should definitely be included, but I also think orchestras should have their own discographies and we would not want too much redundancy. Will revisit. --Another Believer (Talk) 04:45, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Structure

[edit]

Article structure?

  • Lead
  • Early life and education
  • Career, beginning with polio, conducting competition, Europe, National Symphony Orchestra, Quebec
    • Oregon Symphony
    • Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (not necessarily in this order, but these were shorter gigs than the O.S.)
  • Guest appearances
  • Other projects? (somehow incorporating the anime/manga stuff, poetry, etc.
  • Death (or perhaps Health issues and death, which would include details re: polio, kidney disease and heart attack)
  • Awards
  • Discography
  • See also
