He made the Cowboys the 2nd best offense?

[edit]

As currently written, article states "His influence made the Cowboys the 2nd best offense in the NFL." This statement borders on hagiography. It is true that the Cowboys were the league's 2nd highest scoring offense in 2007, Garrett's first year as offensive coordinator. Omitted is the fact that the Cowboy's were the league's 4th highest scoring offense in 2006, the year before Garrett got there. They sent 26yo QB Tony Romo to the Pro Bowl in his first year as a starter, and 24yo TE Jason Witten to the Pro Bowl. Receiver Terrell Owens caught 13 TD passes. Julius Jones and Marion Barber combined for over 1700 yards rushing. The Cowboys were already a prolific, explosive offense before Garrett arrived. Did his influence make the Cowboys the 2nd best offense? Or were they already poised to become that, with continued development from Romo & Witten, and another good year from Owens & Barber & Jones? Was Garrett's influence less strongly felt in his second year, 2008, when the Cowboys fell to having the league's 18th highest scoring offense? (All info from Pro Football Reference .com) Suggest this sentence be re-written so as not to imply cause & effect. It is sufficient (and accurate) to say that the Cowboys had the league's 2nd highest scoring offense in 2007. Jim Hardy (talk) 21:15, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The first sentence of the head coach section is missing the word "fired" -- see below for how it should read.

On November 8, 2010, Garrett was named as interim head coach of the Cowboys after fourth-year head coach Wade Phillips was fired after a 1–7 start for the 2010 season. Tiba31 (talk) 17:31, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Carrer History in NFL Jason Garret

[edit]

In the Carrer History section of the article Jason Garret has been credited with two Super Bowl rings as a coach. Wich is utterly impossible as the same article states those were taking place in years he spent as a player. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.185.158.240 (talk) 17:03, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Release of Garrett

[edit]

I would like to suggest to change the "is the head coach of the cowboys" to "was the head coach of the cowboys," granted he has been fired — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duckwita23 (talkcontribs) 19:18, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide a source that he's been officially fired. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:48, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He has not been fired, the Cowboys are looking for a way for him to stay with them in some capacity though. Wanonymous282882 (talk) 02:30, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Are we waiting for the offical work from the Dallas Cowboys to make this change? Almost ever news media has reported that the organization and Garrett have parted way. B.Valley (talk) 06:11, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we are waiting for an official announcement because the report by Ed Werder says they are "expected" to part ways with him. Eagles 24/7 (C) 13:12, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It seems like that he has been let go though, espn confirmed it and they are one of the top sports networks, sincerely User TarheelBornBred — Preceding unsigned comment added by TarheelBornBred (talkcontribs) 13:23, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide a source stating that he's been officially fired instead of "expected" to be fired as Werder's ESPN report says. Eagles 24/7 (C) 13:44, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He has been informed that he is fired today according to numerous sources such as Dallas Morning News/Dallas News(Dallasnews.com), ESPN, NFL network and many other major sources. Cflynn01 (talk) 23:55, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Have the Cowboys confirmed? That's what we're waiting on. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:55, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Head Coach Section

[edit]

I think we should change the part where it says "Garrett has now head-coached the Cowboys longer than any other coach except Tom Landry." to "making Garrett the longest coach that has head-coached the Cowboys." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Real-Info-tion502 (talkcontribs) 03:20, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
