Hello,
I had noticed some errors on Jasons page.
1.Jasons place of birth sais Chesterfield Derbyshire but many other places all have diffrent places of birth,London,Lewisham,Sydnem and others, none of wich can be confirmed at all.
2.The names of Jasons parents as Barry and Eileen, this also cannot be confirmed.
3.this also cannot be confirmed, "He played football for the local grammar school (1978–83) having started at the Grammar school at the age of eleven." the dates and ages cannot be confirmed.
I think they should be removed as they are missleading and non factual and have no reliable sources to verify them.
Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.196.122.172 (talk)

Jason Sathams age/Date of birth.
Hiya,
I have recently been looking in to Jason Stahams date of birth/current age, after looking at this very discussion page and doing a little homework of my own i have noticed that Jasons date of birth/age on his Wikipedia page is wrong. A member named Dave Dial states that it's a fact Jason was born in 1967 because an article in June 1995 said he was 26,but if he was born in September 12th 1967 by June 1995 he would of been 27 years old! The article can be seen here, http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/to-baldly-go-where-no-manes-grown-before-1584820.html
Other links this member based Jasons age off are recent 2011 articles that would of just copied Wikipedia no?
At the top of this page it sais on Jason Stathams official DVD 'The Bank Job' in the special features section it has the red carpet premeire with Jason Statham being interviewed in Febuary 2008 and he was 35 years old wich means he was born in 1972.
I also noticed much more reliable links with Jason being interviewed in person seem to of went ignored or not seen, these links are....
This interview was a day long interview on 3rd September 2006 and Jason was 34yrs old. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/03/fashion/03NITE.html?_r=1

Interview was on 27th January 2011 and Jason was 38yrs old. http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/movies/Jason+Statham+Talks+The+Mechanic-9712.html
There is also another 30 or so links posted on here that outweigh 1967 and point towards Jason being born in 1972,so how come it sais 1967?

Birth date
Some new light on Jason Stathams birthdate,
In an interview with Jason that was released on 26th September but was done at the Toronto Film Festival on September 11th he was asked...
Interviewer:"But tomorrow you face adding another year… Isn’t tomorrow your birthday?"
Jason Statham: "No, no. That’s the fake birthday. They got my birthday wrong, my real birthdays in July!"
I think Jasons age should be removed and just left blank as there is just too many dates, most indicate 1972 and some 1967, Jason himself sais his birthdays in July. On Youtube there is a video celebrating Jasons birthday in July 2008,a whole crowd singing happy birthday to him at an event at San Dieago Comic Con wich took place early July 2008.

- Statham was definitely born in 1967, but someone might change his BD to just "July, 1967" is they deem the above interview a reliable source. There is no doubt he wasn't born in 1972, and the birth records on file at ancestry describe births from July,August or September 1967. I don't know where the exact date was from, but every source prior to 2003 states Statham was born in 1967, so we should not change that without indisputable proof from reliable sources. Dave Dial (talk) 18:49, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi! I've been watching this for a while now, and am still a bit confused...
First problem I have with those who say it's 67, is they say the newspapers are the most reliable sources because they didn't have IMDb or Wiki, therefore believe they had to ASK Jason his age. But How do you guys know that for sure?
A problem I have with those who say it's 72, is that their proof is very quick and not really backed up (From what I've seen anyway).
Chesterfield, Derbyshire England seems to be one of the key birthplaces which sparks higher beliefs tword the birthdate being 1967. But, there seems to be controversy on his place of birth too. As it use to say London, England, UK. Some have said that actors like Statham may lie about their age for whatever reason, but do you think the birthplace too? May I ask those who seem to strongly believe it's 1967 why, again it's "an established fact"? Because I still don't seem to get it from the info above. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WestBounce (talk • contribs) 06:21, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
In Jason Stathams Book that came out a few months ago "Jason Statham Taking Stock" It sais he was born in 1972.
Surley this is the most reliable source out there as its his actual book on his life, its full of information on Statham, some facts fans already knew and can read online, and also alot we didnt know and couldnt read online.
- Not done: The article already says his date of birth is in 1972, and is properly cited. There's no need to change the source. nprice (talk) 21:25, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- Actually those sources are all for 1967 - I just reverted yet another change to 1972. --Nutthida (talk) 21:38, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
It keeps getting changed back to 1967 even though Jasons own book sais 1972. lol
If you look at the 1967 sources like a previous contributor said, you will see none of them are reliable realy. There are actual interviews with Jason that indicate 1972 + his own book sais 1972.So the whole debate should be over now Jason himself put the 1972 date in his own book.

Most who support the 1967 date say that Jason is the type of person who lies about his age. So, we need to dig deeper in the birth records more. If you know of any source prior to 1999-2003 then we might be getting somewhere with the 1972 date. Whether 1967 is true or not, I honestly can't help but wonder why Dave is so aggressive about the whole thing. It gets me a little on the suspicious side. --WestBounce — Preceding unsigned comment added by WestBounce (talk • contribs) 22:45, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Fact Checks
Can we get a fact check on any newspapers that describe the actor's birth to lean toward the 67 date? Because I haven't seen any. Some of you might be reading newspapers with inaccurate data of a living person and not even know it. WestBounce (talk) 07:58, 30 December 2011 (UTC)WestBounce
It has come to my knowledge the possibility that Jason's "fake birthday" is only the month and day. Here's some sources for them: [1] [2] [3] July seems believable, but the 26th has only been rumored a number of times. The debate still stands despite the socks from above. I'm with neither birth years until evidence of great personal information, say a driver's license print or a file document of any kind of record info has been provided. But that's just my suggestion. WestBounce (talk) 05:13, 20 February 2012 (UTC)WestBounce
Jason Statham said the September date was wrong and that his birthday is actually in July.
As for the 1972 or 1967 date and reading all of the above i personaly lean towards the 1972 date (Don't chew my head off angry frustrated people on here lol), reasons being,
1.As a previous poster said above, articles 'without jason present' i don't think are 'that' reliable of a source as people in the media just guess peoples age a lot of the time. Interviews 'with Jason present' all seem to indicate the 1972 date. On a fly on the wall documentry Tv series with celebrity Peter Andre, Andre revealed that even though he was doing his 'first' interview of the year in May interviews and articles with him had been posted in newspapers and magazines weekly all through January,Febuary,March and April, nobody had even interviewed him, they just make up the articles and add old pictures or recyle an old interview from years ago and add a few extra bits on to freshen it up. This is why i agree with 'articles' are not as reliable as 'interviews' to a degree.
This interview here the interviewers spent the whole day with Jason Statham (even pictures with him) It was in 2006 and said he was 34 years old, that indicates the 1972 date. If you were an interviewer and spent the day with him it would be more likely they asked his age no?
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/03/fashion/03NITE.html?_r=1
2.Jason Stathams own book sais 1972.
3.Jason Stathams DVD 'The Bank Job' has the red carpet premiere in the extra features, it was in 2008 and his age was mentioned at 35, meaning he would of been born in 1972.
As for the people who say it's not possible to go bald in your early 20's so it's more likely to be 1967 is just laughble. People go bald as teenagers all the time, i know people as young as 20 who were bald and Jason Statham wasn't even totaly bald he was just 'thinning'. People say that Jason 'seems' to be the type to lie about his age (How would they know if he seems the type? lol) Neither of those are a reliable source that's just random nonsense.
Who knows, i could ask his ex girlfriend Kelly Brook on Twitter, she dated Jason Statham for over 7 years.
Sure is a lot of aggression on this page huh! lol --Boxerboi31 (talk) 00:47, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Statham's past as a black market salesman?
The article mentions "Statham's past as a black market salesman", but there's no mention of this on either of the references from the uk.askmen.com, or filmbug.com websites that bound this assertion, so it seems like defamation to accuse him of being "black market salesman". In the first sentence there is a line that says he is a martial artist - other than him doing martial arts moves in movies, is there any information on what style he practices, what belt he might hold, or more information along those lines? Place of Birth Change
Jason was born in Sydenham, London, not Shirebrook. It is noted on his IMDB page http://www.imdb.com and stated in an interview he gave with the Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk.

- No, IMDB is not a reliable source, and in the interview Statham does not say he was born in Sydenham. The writer states he lived there, it doesn't state he was born there. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 19:28, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
-- :Sydenham is also listed as his place of birth on the official movie sites for Safe, Expendables 2 and Mechanic. - The source from BFI says "Chesterfield, Derbyshire" and claims that it was checked against public records. The NYTimes source says he is a "native of London" with no mention of Sydenham. I think that there is enough diversity of claims made that we need to document that it has been variously reported and subject to inaccuracy. Elizium23 (talk) 04:12, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
I would recommend you take a look on Ancestry.co.uk or similar. A search for Jason Statham, born 1967, mothers maiden name Yates, brings him up as being born in Derbyshire.

Jason Statham was born in Sydenham, England -- not Shirebrook as currently stated. The source is Statham's personal publicist. Please make this change. Smallbee (talk) 18:50, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Not doneBirth records show Statham was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. In order for this article to be changed, there would need to be a reliable source quoting Jason Statham himself. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 19:06, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Diving
The article claimed that Statham finished 12th in the Diving World Championships in 1992. As far as I can see on Wikipedia and on the internet there weren't any World Championships, Cups, or Masters Series in 1992, let alone any Diving related websites stating Statham finished 12th in them. The source used in the article was an interview with Statham where he seems to play down his diving prowess, which although undoutably excellent doesn't appear in any other reliable places. We have already dispelled the myths that a) He was born in London and b) He was an Olympic diver, so I don't think this World Championship thing rings true either. I'd be very happy for someone to prove me wrong though! Cls14 (talk) 21:39, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Yea, I don't think it was a "World Championship". I believe he was 12th in some event for the British National team that were competing in order to qualify. Though I'm not sure. If I have time I will rummage through my Statham links to see if I can find just exactly what he did and when. He was definitely a dive for the British National team, but I do not think he qualified for the Championships or Olympics. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 22:06, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Dating trivia
Trivia about an actor's dating life is not encyclopedic biographical information. There is a growing consensus on Wikipedia, especially among WP:ACTOR that we do not include information on who is dating whom, at least not until the relationship becomes notable via an engagement, a pregnancy, a moving-in or some other important life event. I suggest that we remove the entire "Personal life" section until we have something encyclopedic to put into it. Elizium23 (talk) 02:12, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- I will say this, when there is a guideline, or consensus, then all of the actors articles can be changed. As of now, there is no guideline or consensus. Especially in a case where two people have been together for more than 3 years. I do agree every time an actor dates someone, it shouldn't appear on Wikipedia, but that is not the case here. As described in the linked article, they have been together over 3 years and are in a serious relationship. And that fits the biographical significance criteria for inclusion. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 02:21, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Incorrect Birthday Date!
Jason Statham wasn't born on 12th September 1967, he was born on the 26th July 1967. Here's proof:
On Jason Statham's real Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JasonStatham/), he posted a status update saying "Thanks for all the Birthday messages. The real date is 26 July. Not sure why that wrong info is still out there. Thanks anyway for the kind wishes. Cheers" - this update was posted on 12th September 2013 and can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/JasonStatham/posts/225196284309286 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.136.102.9 (talk) 19:45, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well, there are six, count 'em, six references attached to his birth date, and in fact yet another one is attached to the infobox field. The problem is, one of these links is dead, and the others do not appear to even mention his birth date at all. So I am not sure what to do. Statham's Facebook page is a WP:PRIMARY and WP:SPS source. Is it possible for us to verify that it is the real Jason Statham controlling and posting there? That would help our WP:V requirement. If someone else could look at all those sources and see if his birth date is listed either as July or September, it would help. Also, one of the sources purports to be the UK Birth Index, which is not permissible under WP:BLPPRIMARY, and should be removed. Elizium23 (talk) 20:23, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yea, I don't know where the September 12th date came from. The birth record just states July-September 1967. So i think the Facebook post is probably correct, but it's hard to change it with just the Facebook citation. The other references that state 1967 are solid, but the month and day are not. Dave Dial (talk) 21:27, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- Interestingly, this source used in the article puts his birth year in the 1971-1972 range. So to me it is clear that there is widespread misinformation out there. Either we can remove the year entirely until a secondary source reports on the controversy, or we can give the benefit of the doubt to the primary sources and impose the suggested birthdate. I don't personally see a problem with the latter. Elizium23 (talk) 00:46, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- On second thought, I am more likely to support removal of the date because we still do not know his birth year. His birthdate was reported as 12 September 1972, 12 September 1967, and 12 September 1966 in various revisions of this article. His place of birth has also been misreported. This book (unauthorized bio?) has the date as 12 September 1972. I am turning up more WP:RS indicating a year of 1972 so the 1967 date is probably wrong. Elizium23 (talk) 00:56, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Here's a direct interview putting his age at 45 in early 2013: that's 1967 again. So I am beginning to believe that this guy lies about his age... Elizium23 (talk) 01:01, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Ha! Well, that seems definitive, but it's not the real Jason Statham that lies about his age. Although he is a bit coy when discussing it. Also, I know we can't use this, but I know he was born in 1967 because of my ancestry research(on ancestry.com). There was/is definitely someone out there that was feverishly and relentlessly trying to convince everyone that Statham was born in 1973. For what exact reason, I don't know, but it is strange. Dave Dial (talk) 01:16, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- No, it has been discussed many times on this Talk page before, and his birth date is definitely in 1967. Search the archives. Also, you can use birth records if backed up by a secondary source, which there are. As have also been discussed when citing every source prior to 2003-2004. Before journalists and websites started copying information from Wikipedia and IMDB. Evidently some yahoo decided to give false information to Wikipedia and IMDB in 2004-2005. Probably the other Jason Statham born in1973, that wanted to be "famous". IMDB has been given the 1967 information now also. As a matter of fact, there should be notes on the article to not change the year. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 01:06, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- http://www.facebook.com/JasonStatham/ is a verified page on Facebook, and this was the page he used to post his real birthday date, as lots of people were saying happy birthday to him on the wrong day. so he's thanks for the wishes, but then mentions his real birth date. Can the date be altered to the correct birth date? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.136.102.9 (talk) 11:13, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Jason Statham tweeted yesterday that his birthday was 26 July 1946 and NOT as stated by Wikipedia as 12 September 1946.

the official date of birth of Jason is the 26th of july, as he wrote on his own facebook. https://www.facebook.com/JasonStatham?fref=ts Wikipedia has the wrong date on most pages for other languages. "He also starred in the action film Killer Elite. The film was based on real events, which were the subject of Sir Ranulph Fiennes' fictional novel The Feather Men."
apart from the inherent contradiction within this sentence, according to wikipedia (when following the provided link to the book), it can be concluded that the novel is, in fact, fictional. therefore, i suggest to strike the "based on real events" etc. part. --Mittgenstein (talk) 21:32, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

I believe the birthday is incorrect. According to his (I believe official) facebook page he says his birthday is July 26 of the same year.
Quote: Jason Statham September 12 Thanks for all the Birthday messages. The real date is 26 July. Not sure why that wrong info is still out there. Thanks anyway for the kind wishes. Cheers

- I checked the ref for the old birthday and there's nothing. So changed to 26 July according to his Facebook page. I don't know where the old date comes from, maybe removed from the sources after complaints? --Denniss (talk) 09:37, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yea, I never found any source for the September 12 date. The birth records just state July-September, 1967. My guess is that some bloke named Jason Statham that was born September 12, 1972 gave this false information and it became accepted because it was on Wikipedia and IMDB. After I contacted the people who run IMDB a few years ago with proof Statham was born in 1967, they changed it to match Wikipedia. They also changed the September 12 to July 26 recently. It seems obvious the date is July 26, but I wasn't/am not sure a Facebook post is allowed for a source. I say we should accept it in this case. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 17:12, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Actually i provided the July date about 2 years ago. But editor Dave Dial was very very rude, hostile and protective over the article and refused to accept it even though i provided a reliable source with Jason himself mentioning it. The source was an interview where a reporter wished Jason a happy birthday on September the 12th, and Jason replied "Thanks but that's not my real birthday, that's the fake one, my real birthdays in July" However it was Dave Dial's way or the highway. My edit request even mysteriously disappeared from this talk page. Editor Dave Dial has done everything in his power to keep this article his way, even twisted things. It doesn't go unnoticed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.40.210.39 (talk) 13:34, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

- Hmmm. Ip 92.40.210.39, are you talking about this interaction? It seems to me that I agreed Statham was probably born in July, but you also wanted to change the year to 1972. Which everyone knows is completely false. I thank the editors who helped make this article better, but I have to laugh at those who go around trying to change Statham's birth date to 1972. It's never going to happen. Thanks. Dave Dial (talk) 17:04, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

- @Denniss: WP:SPS reads in part (emphasis in original): "Never use self-published sources as third-party sources about living people, even if the author is an expert, well-known professional researcher, or writer." Although, from Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Avoid_self-published_sources: "Never use self-published sources... as sources of material about a living person... Living persons may publish material about themselves, such as through press releases or personal websites. Such material may be used as a source only if [five criteria]". I think this is a fine and acceptable example. It might be inadmissible if he were mentioning his birth year as actors have an incentive to lie about their ages but not about their birthdays. I originally added the respelling of this actor's name, as I find the IPA codes completely indecipherable. However, my initial suggestion of "STAY-thumb" has been replaced with a respell that itself contains IPA codes (some weird upside-down "e" that could mean anything). I thought the purpose of the respell was to write a plain English pronunciation that anybody could understand, as it stands I'm none the wiser as to how the name is spoken, as I suspect will be anyone else who isn't IPA-fluent. Any chance this can be put back to a more user-friendly version? Thanks. Damage (talk) 04:38, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
Not done - The purpose of IPA is to represent the phonetics of words, it is a global standard, irrespective of what language or accent you normally speak.

Under Career portion it states: "In August 2011, he began filming Parker for director Taylor Hackford; the film was released in January 2013. Statham played Parker, the criminal antihero previously played by Mel Gibson in 1999's Payback". However the name of Mel Gibson's Character In "Payback" was Porter, not Parker. Please note that the character name of Jason Statham in the Fast and Furious series is still stated as 'Ian Shaw' in the Career section of the page instead of the correct one which sould be 'Deckard Shaw', thank you.Sincerely sax (talk) 19:33, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- I tried to verify this, and his name is given as Deckard Shaw on imdb only for the 7th part of the series. It says he appears in the 6th, but imdb does not give a first name and instead lists him as "Shaw's Brother". Did they perhaps change the name of his character between the two movies? I would agree that the name for the cameo appearance is probably not as noteworthy, but we should avoid giving inaccurate information. If you believe that the name is Deckard in both movies, can you give a reliable source for this? Samsara 13:49, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- I changed the wording of the prose to reflect what was stated in an Entertainment Weekly article around that time. If you want you can cut the "presumed to be Ian" part as that was mostly internet speculation as amassed by the press writers. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:38, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Many countries are experiencing mass shootings. Is Jason Statham encouraging the use of weapons to settle grievances? Maybe he is because that his bread and butter. The vigilante attitude of Bronson films is very popular and continues to be this day among those who cannot stand up to bullies. Unfortunately it also appeals to the weak.
