Typewriter Tapes

[edit]

The "obtrusive" typewriter sounds are not, as might be misunderstood from the article, simply someone typing in the background. The typewriter is there on purpose. It is the entire rhythm section because Jorma is not playing traditional rhythm, as someone might when accompanying a singer. 76.28.103.69 (talk) 18:55, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Will in New Haven76.28.103.69 (talk) 18:55, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just remembered that I wrote the above. Quite awhile after writing it, I listened to the tapes again. Except for a few moments on one track, the typewriter does not seem to be doing a very good job as a rhythm section. Since then, I have seen comments from Jorma that his wife (at the time) was just typing a letter. 65.79.173.135 (talk) 15:01, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Will in New Haven65.79.173.135 (talk) 15:01, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary deletion of uninterpretable phrase

[edit]

A sentence was composed ambiguously. Therefore, I deleted the ambiguous portion. When somebody finds out the facts, they can restore the information. The old text read, ". . . born to a [X] father and a [Y] mother, employed by the U.S. foreign service". From this wording and punctuation it is impossible to identify who was employed by the U.S. foreign service: the father, the mother, or both. Hurmata (talk) 02:47, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Brother?

[edit]

Finnish wiki states he has a younger brother who is also a musician, Peter Kaukonen, born 1945. Isn't that worth mentioning? 82.141.119.195 (talk) 15:29, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Probably, since he has an own article, Peter Kaukonen. 85.217.50.139 (talk) 21:43, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Career

[edit]

Added subsections to the career section to help organize it and make it confirm to wiki standards.Vanishingcattle (talk) 04:35, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jefferson Airplane

[edit]

To my memory, opposing the article, Spare Chaynge was a rather short track sung by Grace Slick, whereas The Last Wall of the Castle was a long instrumental, very possibly 9'12" indeed. *MM — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.93.9.59 (talk) 21:56, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your memory needs work. 'Spayre Chaynge' has been a much-noted instumental ever since it was first released on Baxter's. The title came from a quip often heard on the streets of Haight-Asbury from hippies asking passers-by for spare change. 104.169.42.225 (talk) 14:54, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Error in the lede?

[edit]

It reads: "…and still performs regularly on tour with Hot Tuna, which started as a side project with bassist Jack Casady, and as of early 2019 has continued for 50 years." But reading the article, I see that there was a big break to his time with Hot Tuna. So is there an error in the lede? Boscaswell talk 07:37, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
