A fact from Josh Bell (first baseman) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 13 February 2012 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Bell has not played a professional game yet, but that is immaterial. WP:GNG presumes notability if there is "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". In this case, there is significant coverage in reliable and independent sources. He received a bonus that is a record for a player not drafted in the first round. He's won numerous high school awards and honors. There is more than enough here to satisfy GNG, regardless of whether or not he passes WP:NSPORTS. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:35, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well I disagree about it being significant coverage. This is the same amount of coverage that every player drafted within the first few rounds would get and I don't find it being enough for an article. I'm gonna leave a link at WP:Baseball, might as well see what they think.--Yankees1001:58, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Muboshgu that the player is notable per WP:GNG. His baseball career has been profiled by independent nationwide sources such as ESPN as well by major newspapers in Texas and elsewhere.--TM02:48, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Does he belong on the Gus Bell family tree? Gus -> Buddy -> Mike & Dave -> ?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.253.143.140 (talk) 13:43, April 13, 2015

Josh Bell (baseball, born 1992) Since he's played both OF and 1B, i'd say move to there for now. Can always move to (first baseman) if he play's there exclusively in the majors.--Yankees1023:58, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This Josh Bell has still played significantly more games in the outfield than at first base, so the current pernenthetical is still vaild. If we are going to change, it may make sense for now at least to make this Josh Bell Josh Bell (minor league baseball player) and the other one Josh Bell (Major League Baseball player) since readers are more likely to know which one actually made the majors rather than which year each one was born in.
