Lei or Leo?

[edit]

I was just watching coverage of Kim Clijsters' US Open win, and the presenters consequentley referred to her father as Lei. What to do? Had the redirect mentioned below got anything to do with that? Divad 10:02, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about the whole Lei / Leo thing, but the redirect was to Kim, and was done during discussions about deleting the article. --Apyule 10:14, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

I have removed the redirect notice. It's not the only option that we have, and WP:AfD is the propper place for it. --Apyule 09:23, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Misspelled

[edit]

The guy's name is Lei Clijsters. I guess Leo is just a typo. Jupiler 13:02, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In Limburg (a region in Belgium and the Netherlands), where the Clijsters family comes from, Lei is a usual "abbreviation" for Leo, like Jim for James. On Kims internet site [1] he is called Lei, so I guess it's Lei. Markussep 10:20, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
"Leo" is his official birth name, his nickname is "Lei" -- fdewaele 17 September 2005, 11:00 (CET)

Has been on WP:RM from 11 till 22 september 2005 for renaming to "Leo"; no actual vote was held here (seen the simultaneous AfD vote) - anyway not sufficient support for move to "Leo Clijsters". --Francis Schonken 07:59, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

vfd closed - result was "keep"

The result of the debate was NO CONSENSUS to move page. "Lei" seems to be how he is commonly known. -GTBacchus(talk) 19:37, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok that is certainly a valid argument, indeed I've also never heard anyone say leo in the Belgian media. But, then I request another move, namely Vincenzo Scifo to Enzo Scifo, I've also never heard anyone say Vincenzo. --Pelotastalk 21:54, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't oppose this either... ;-) --LimoWreck 22:31, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

[edit]

I have no idea why Leo Clijsters redirects to Lei Clijsters and not the other way around. It is even mentioned in the article that Lei is just a nickname. So I would like to make a request to move it. As an example: Vincenzo Scifo was frequently called Enzo, thus Enzo Scifo redirects to Vincenzo Scifo. --Pelotastalk 17:35, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Skin or lung?

[edit]

Was his death caused by skin cancer or lung cancer? Most sources state lung, but this article and the Dutch article state skin. Best name (talk) 01:07, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
