Deleting comments not sourced & which are biased.[edit]

Someone wrote:- Abune Mathias... Reign disputed by followers of Abune Merkorios until 2018[1][2]

But the reference does not check out and it is a biased comment, so I have removed it. Truth gate keeper (talk) 21:02, 5 March 2019 (UTC) Truth gate keeper[reply]

[Untitled][edit]

The head of the Ethiopian church was a Patriarch for only a relatively short period of the church's existence -- only 50 of its more than 1600 year history. Shouldn't this article be renamed "Abunas of Ethiopia" or "List of Abunas"? If no one objects over the next week, I'll move this article to one of these names. -- llywrch 20:47, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of Abunas of EthiopiaList of patriarchs of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo ChurchWP:DISAMBIG; "abuna" functions more as a honorific for various bishops and priests. Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church per WP:PRECISION. Perhaps "patriarchs" could be replaced by "primates" if preferred. • Oppose, Abuna is the religious title and a job description. It's a bit hard keeping up with your nominations, so please read the pages and links first before nominating. "Abuna" is the correct term and correct title. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:06, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Randy Kryn: How come none of the other language versions apply "abuna" as the formal description for the office? PPEMES (talk) 07:55, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I only edit English Wikipedia, and speak and read only English (but love to hear the French speak, whatever they're saying). Randy Kryn (talk) 11:41, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose because patriarch is clearly wrong for most of them, who were subjects to the patriarchs of Alexandria. Srnec (talk) 01:02, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Would you insist that "primates" would be plain wrong? PPEMES (talk) 08:54, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, but List of primates of Ethiopia is far more ambiguous than the present title, which is absolutely clear. Srnec (talk) 13:19, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How about List of primates of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church? PPEMES (talk) 14:32, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
