Vans

[edit]

For a while now I have noticed that the car list includes vans such as the Ford Transit Connect Electric and the Mercedes-Benz Vito E-Cell. I was about to add the infamous Citroen Berlingo Electrique and Renault Kangoo Electrique when I decided to search for other electric vans. On a Czech website which I have used previously to reference some older electric cars, I found many electric vans:

  • The Citroen Berlingo Electrique and its sibling the Peugeot Partner Electrique
  • The Citroen C25 Electrique and its sibling the Peugeot J5 Electrique
  • The Citroen C15 Electrique
  • The Mercedes-Benz Vito 108E
  • The Renault Kangoo Electrique
  • The Skoda Favorit 151 Eltra Pick-Up
  • The Skoda/Tatra Beta EL

I believe that adding all these vehicles to the list would be to a disadvantage to readers as those who want to read about or compare cars will have to pick out the vans and those who want to read about or compare vans will have to pick out the cars. This is why I am proposing a third list, specifically for vans or utility vehicles in general. Note that I am not including the Dodge Caravan EPIC or the Chrysler TEvan as utility vehicles. Any thoughts?--Pineapple Fez 07:32, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I fully agree with your proposal to have utility vehicles in a separate list. Go ahead and create it, I think the best location is after the list of motorcycles. Here you will find some more utility veh listed in the California rebate program. --Mariordo (talk) 12:01, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I began the new section today, please feel free to expand and also to create the corresponding out-of-production section.--Mariordo (talk) 14:59, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I have added some vehicles to the list and created a pre-production and testing section. I will try to add more vehicles such as the Renault Kangoo Z.E and the Bright Automotive IDEA soon.--Pineapple Fez 01:46, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting by range

[edit]

The table looks like it's supposed to be sortable by range, and it kind of sort of works: most of the low range cars sort near the top or bottom, depending on the chosen sort order. However, it's far from perfect; the Teslas, with some of the longest ranges, are far from the bottom (or top). In part this is maybe due to the fact that some table cells have multiple ranges (mostly for different product years), but there's more going on than that. Someone who knows how this sorting works internally should take a look. Mcswell (talk) 20:23, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of modern production plug-in electric vehicles's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "NorwaySales":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 23:56, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mess of defunct lists

[edit]

Today (May 2019) there exist six lists in English language wikipedia that largely overlap and all of which are far from a complete, updated state:

List of hybrid vehicles (hybrid electric vehicles equipped with both combustion engines and electric drivetrains)

List of modern production plug-in electric vehicles (with pure battery vehicles, but also plug-ins, also some motorcycles and small trucks)

List of production battery electric vehicles (mainly a list with few notes on each car, also some non-car entries like motorcyles and light trucks, only purely electric vehicles)

List of production battery electric vehicles (table)

List of electric cars currently available (table with some details of cars, but lower number of entries)

List of modern production plug-in electric vehicles available in the United States (only cars, plug-in hybrids and purely electric cars)

There is also the List of electric scooters (German Wikipedia).

Some of these lists miss small size electric vehicles like the Renault Twizy. It may be easy to set ups such lists at some point in time by copying from other assembled data, but it is more difficult to keep them updated. For comparison: There is nothing like a “list of fossil fuel cars” for all conventional cars combined.

I would suggest to freeze most of all of the lists, unless someone would like to merge them into one list each for plug-in hybrids and pure electric cars. And even such list could be frozen as electric cars become standard. Meerwind7 (talk) 07:59, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Termination of updates and renaming of list

[edit]

Electric and hybrid cars are becoming more comonpace. When at some time most types of car will have a electric or hybrid variant, it is not meaningful and imossible to keep these lists updates. I suggest to terminate new entries for any new models that enter(ed) the market after 2018, and rename it correspondingly. The list would thus grudually evolve into a historic document of early actvities in the car industrie in the first two decades of this millennium. This would not preclude some notes about highly significant new market entries or best-selling cars of that type. But certainly, the expectation of a "complete" list of all electric or hybrid cars is inachievable. Meerwind7 (talk) 07:08, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merger propsal.
