Content dispute

[edit]

There appears to be a dispute over the content of this article. In order to stop the edit warring I suggest that both parties discuss the problem here. As I can see it the issue seems to be related to the addition of flags to the infobox. This is discouraged by the manual of style, but it is clear that discussion is needed to prevent further edit warring. One important thing to note here is that the article, as it stands, is an unreferenced biography of a living person, I have now restored the only reference that I could find in the page history as a general reference. --Mrmatiko (talk) 10:33, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Where do I start...
  1. The photo is copyrighted, unlicensed and not his.
  2. Flags are not used in the infobox, this has been discussed many times on WikiProject Football. If the editor wants I can create a separate box with manager stats that include flags but that is it.
  3. The information is juggled around and unreferenced. And the word structure could use a revamp. That is really my problem. If he wants he could tell me what he wants and I can fix it by revamping the article but the way the article was is just silly. Also just because he left Churchill does not mean that picture should not stay. I have seen countless articles of footballers like that. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 16:37, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLP

[edit]

I have removed a large amount of unreferenced BLP information, see WP:BLPSOURCES for rerasons why this should not be included.

Also, this is done because a large number of edits to this page appear to have been made by the subject himself. Please read WP:AB for warnings about autobiographical editing. The article expanded little on any area except trophies won. As much of the article is written by its subject, this also strays into self-promotion / advertising, details of which can be found here: WP:COI

In addition, the article contained a number of errors, including noting that the individual was manager of several clubs and nations when in fact he was only a coach. Given the semi-promotional tone of the article, the number of edits clearly performed by the article subject, the almost total lack of references, and the false information in the article make deletion of the majority of the material the best option. The article is clearly about a notable indivual in the world of football and doubtless much of what was originally there could form part of a worthwhile article, if only it was properly referenced and edited by an independant person. Manager and head coach (sometimes abbreviated to coach) are often the same - for example Roy Hodgson is described as manager of the England national football team, and in the team's article the infobox describes him as "Head coach". Peter E. James (talk) 00:14, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Full Protection for One Week

[edit]

I have fully protected the article so that no one can edit it for one week. This shouldn't be seen as an endorsement of the current version, it was just the version that existed when I protected it. I have noticed two users who are edit warring, enough so that both could be blocked, but instead I would rather see them work it out here on the talk page. Decide here, then make the edits when the protection expires. If you can't work it out, take the issue to WP:DRN. Further edit warring will result in editors being blocked. I will not be participating in this discussion, so address each other please. Dennis Brown - © 19:38, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
