Gomez has not signed for Fiorentina!!!

[edit]

Why do you protect this page when it's clearly that Gomez has not signed for Fiorentina. Now the article is wrong because he is listing as a Fiorentina player. Undo, please.

very much doubt the arsenal signing part is true. if it is true, we need to wait until it has been officially reported. if that is an actual quote it needs to be backed up iwth a source, doesn't it, according to wiki rules? wenger has said he will buy a defender and a midfielder this summer so i'd be pretty surprised if he forks out 20 - 25M Euros for this chap. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.158.149.18 (talk)

So remove it..... Hubschrauber729 (talk) 23:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC) currently transfered to galatasaray sk (tr)[reply]

Four goals in an international match

[edit]

The article says: "He is only the fourth German after Gerd Müller, Michael Ballack and Lukas Podolski to score four goals in an international match." This can't be correct as in the 16–0 against Russia in 1912 Förderer scored 4 goals and Fuchs even 10, see dfb.de. --Jaellee (talk) 18:13, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nuremberg

[edit]

Please don't change Nuremberg to Nürnberg as this is against the naming convention Wikipedia:ENGLISH. --Jaellee (talk) 08:20, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But why 1. FC Köln (instead of cologne) but Bayern Munich (isntead of München). But are club desginations. Neither Bavaria Munich or Bayern München. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.15.87.189 (talk) 13:51, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Transfer fee

[edit]

The other two sources listed in the article say that it was a 30 million transfer fee to FC Bayern Munich. As there is no official announcement from the clubs, I would prefer to leave this out of the text as it cannot be proved one way or the other. --Jaellee (talk) 21:55, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i agree to leave out the amount of the transfer fee, since it can't be verified by us until now. but one should still mention that it was a bundesliga record transfer. greetings. Kalifat (talk) 21:58, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

how about this wording? Kalifat (talk) 22:01, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. --Jaellee (talk) 22:05, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goals in 2011-12 UEFA Champions League

[edit]

he hasn't scored 12 goals this year in europe but 11 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.242.51.81 (talk) 21:09, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

He scored one in the play-offs, so the total is 12. --Jaellee (talk) 21:18, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify. The totals on the UEFA page are for tournament play only, not the play-in rounds. The lists on the article reflect those totals as well. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:26, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Naming custom

[edit]

I'm not really sure why Spanish naming custom applies to Mario Gomez. If it did, wouldn't it be Mario Gómez Roth instead? I think his father's surnames were combined to make Gómez García when he settled in Germany. So his name does not use Spanish naming customs

Esterhase (talk) 19:17, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know that he is following Spanish naming rules. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:07, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

German pronunciation of Mario

[edit]

The German pronunciation of Mario in this article seems awkward to me; the Duden Aussprachewörterbuch says Mario it. [ˈmaːri̯o]. There's no genuine German pronunciation of Mario, but there is the one for Marion [ˈmaːri̯ɔn]. I think [ˈmaːʁjɔ] could be a good approximation of the actual German pronunciation according to wiki MoS.--Carnby (talk) 22:30, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, i̯ and j are the same. --2.245.244.254 (talk) 19:05, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
