New Category for British Motorcycles

As part of the Motorcycling WikiProject I am working though all the missing articles and stubs for British Bikes. To make things easier to sort out I have created a category for British motorcycles. Please will you add to any British motorcycle pages you find or create. It will also help to keep things organised if you use the Template:Infobox Motorcycle or add it where it is missing. I've linked the Category to the Commons British Motorcycles so you could help with matching pics to articles or adding the missing images to the Commons - take your camera next time you go to a rally! Lancia single head V4s

Tagging the statement that Lancia pioneered narrow angle V4s with single heads implies there is some controversy or dispute here. A quick search at Google Books shows this is a widely acknowledged fact. If you know of any reason to doubt it, you should go to Lancia V4 engine and discuss. Firstly, I am surprised (disappointed) that you would add a blog as a source, given your background of Wikipolicing; Secondly, I tagged it initially as because I have 1965 sources relating to the disputatious (see the other article) cylinders included angle and I wanted the Lancia aspect distanced before I contributed to the article(s) (as I have no references for the head origins) as in WP:INTEGRITY. It never was a consideration of doubt (although I, also, jump to conclusions), just verifiability for clarification and completeness. Although this article is briefer, the same applies to Matchless Silver Hawk, where there are conflicting numbers as @vintagent only changed the prose, not the infobox, without actually citing it and it's difficult to guess what his source implies. I have an engineering-type illustration and even with the benefit of that I still see it as a garbled blog. I have largely quit contributing prose, as was always the plan, just a few bits and images, so at some future stage I planned to improve both articles, but I'll sit on them a while longer...--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 20:06, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

I am not disputing anything; it's vintagent who has altered the prose according to a 1981(?) book. The 18 and 26 degree figures are both correct, but refer to entirely different aspects (applies equally to the twin and four). So a WP:SPS blog has been 'authorised', contrary to Wikipedia policy? I guess I should have anticipated that, doesn't bode well when editors have to second-guess everything. It's a bit like one set of individuals deleting infoboxflags, and another group re-adding them with a vengeance, insisting they're not prohibited, just discouraged (that's a quote from one editor, as best I can remember it). There are problems with other references in this sequence, one of them is not fit for a citation, only as WP:ELMAYBE. I give up, they're largely obscure articles anyway (off my watchlist now).--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 22:15, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Bert Collier link

Bert Collier links to the founder of Matchless, Henry Herbert Collier, who died in 1926. It should link tot Herbert William Collier (1907-1942), the youngest Collier-brother, born out of Henry Herbert's second marriage and over 20 years younger than Charlie and Harry.
