Move request

The result of the move request was: moved to Mid Day. Favonian (talk) 13:29, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
MiD DAY → Mid Day – The spelling used in the current article name is really just a stylization of the newspaper name, just like for example "Ke$ha" instead of "Kesha", and thus the article title should be normalized per our conventions on trademarks. --The Evil IP address (talk) 19:10, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose "Mid Day" should redirect to Noon or Midday (disambiguation). Instead this should be called Mid Day (newspaper). 70.24.248.23 (talk) 22:58, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- Wouldn't mind a move to "Mid Day (newspaper)" as long as the stylization is removed. However, it doesn't appear to be necessary, as the term uses different spacing/capitalization, so a hatnote should suffice. --The Evil IP address (talk) 11:21, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- SuPpOrT. The Times of India refers to this subject as Mid Day or Mid-Day. Nor is there any need for disambiguation, per WP:PRECISION. Kauffner (talk) 07:48, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Comment. I agree with the IP and would support Mid Day (newspaper) (or Mid-Day (newspaper)). Disambiguation is definitely required because most readers would expect "Mid Day" and "Mid-Day" to refer to noon, not a newspaper. Jenks24 (talk) 09:41, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- The guideline allows for disambiguation based on detail -- and it even gives the example of Red Meat and Red meat. Kauffner (talk) 10:50, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Mid Day → Mid-Day – The hyphen seems to be used consistently in sources and the paper's own website. I wondered about "Mid-day", lower-case "d", but this seems less used (though more common than the unhyphenated form). See the "about us" page as an example of the paper's own usage. I was brought to look at this newspaper by seeing a link [[Mid Day|Mid-Day]]
in an article and wondering why the article title was not the version the editor wanted to display. PamD 07:06, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
- Support although they themselves seem to be inconsistent with their usage. I get the impression that they used to omit the hyphen, but now prefer "Mid-Day", as at their "About Us" page. They (still) have an active Facebook page which uses "MiD DAY" (all caps except "i", no hyphen). I don't know how hard it is to change your moniker on Facebook so maybe they are stuck with a style they chose back in 20xx. Their own LinkedIn page is sort of a mongrel, including pretty much one of everything. It doesn't look particularly active/current, though. Other sources appear to be mixed, slight tendency toward "Mid-Day". — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 15:29, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
