orphaned article
[edit]No other articles currently link to this page, unless you count a hatnote atop the article titled Moveable feast (with a lower-case "f") explaining that that article is about the concept usually denoted by that term and a separate article is about this organization.
- If there are other articles that ought to link to this one, could those who know of them add the links? Michael Hardy (talk) 20:02, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, perhaps you could help suggest some related articles. — Cirt (talk) 20:16, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
I have removed Moveable Feast (organization) from Template:Baltimore. It did not belong in the Industry group, and this seems like a really transparent attempt to gain links to the article. -- Pemilligan (talk) 00:18, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Pemilligan:It's relevant to Baltimore as a non-profit notable food charity operating in Baltimore, founded by an official of the Baltimore City Health Department, based in Baltimore, Maryland, in addition to serving the Eastern Shore of Maryland. — Cirt (talk) 00:27, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
None of that makes it an industry, nor is it alone in being a charity based in Baltimore, yet you listed no others, which just makes it look like an attempt to gain links. -- Pemilligan (talk) 00:34, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Pemilligan:Was an attempt to link a notable Baltimore food charity to a template about Baltimore, as it is very relevant to Baltimore. Pemilligan, perhaps you could helpfully suggest some ways to have relevant incoming links? Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 00:38, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Update: I've worked some sourced material into relevant articles, complete with cited sources in article body text. I agree this is a better way to improve the encyclopedia than See also links with no context. Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 01:12, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Requested move 10 April 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. Given the additional new entries in the disambiguation page, and a flurry of oppose votes that came in after that was added, on the grounds that this organization is not primary over those other entries, I don't see a consensus to move at this time. No prejudice against a fresh request if someone wants to assert that the organization is primary over the book etc. though. (non-admin closure) — Amakuru (talk) 11:10, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
Moveable Feast (organization) → Moveable Feast – This is the only notable entry with capitalized spelling Moveable Feast. Zero reason for disambig page created at Moveable Feast. Unilaterally moved with zero discussion at DIFF 2, after prior move at DIFF 1 -- in violation of site procedures at WP:REQMOVE. Only two (2) pages exist on Wikipedia with this title. No need for disambig page. — Cirt (talk) 20:09, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Support, as proposed. Zero other notable entries exist on Wikipedia with capitalized page title of Moveable Feast. Out-of-procedure-page-move made in violation of WP:REQMOVE. — Cirt (talk) 20:10, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: Note that I'll respectfully defer to whatever the outcome is from consensus determined by the Wikipedia community in this standard process per WP:REQMOVE. Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 20:34, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Comment. I'm not !voting yet, because I'm not sure I understand either of your arguments. I don't believe Michael Hardy violated WP:REQMOVE because the policy states,
"When not to use this page: Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, do it yourself!"
(see WP:NOTRM). I assume Michael Hardy did not think this was controversial as his new page (Moveable feast (observance)) is more of a general topic as opposed to a local nonprofit. IMHO neither one is clearly primary based on WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. I'm open to arguments from both sides about why one is primary over the other. PermStrump(talk) 21:40, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Permstrump:, thanks very much for participating here with your comments. The observance ends in a lowercase word. The organization ends in an uppercase word. Two difference spellings. No need for a disambiguation page. — Cirt (talk) 21:47, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Are you saying the web address is caps sensitive so one article can be
Moveable Feast
and the other can beMoveable feast
and they will direct to different pages? PermStrump(talk) 21:53, 10 April 2016 (UTC)- @Permstrump: Yes, that's exactly what I meant. What do you think? — Cirt (talk) 21:54, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- That seems fine to me. Maybe Michael Hardy didn't realize that. PermStrump(talk) 21:56, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- Alright, Permstrump, that certainly could be. Thanks very much for injecting a bit more reason into the discussion. Most appreciated, — Cirt (talk) 22:09, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

- Support. Moving the nonprofit back to
Moveable Feast
and the observance toMoveable feast
. PermStrump(talk) 21:56, 10 April 2016 (UTC) - Oppose. The similarity will be confusing in some cases, and in particular people entering terms in the search box may lack sufficient information to know whether a capital or lower-case initial letter is appropriate on their particular occasion. Hence a disambiguation page anticipating the confusion is a good thing. Michael Hardy (talk) 00:06, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Easily addressed by top hat-notes on each article, as there are only two (2) articles. — Cirt (talk) 00:13, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose and retain dab page. Issue of notability here for the organisation. And dab page includes the novel and now other items. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:56, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- In ictu oculi, did you mean to post that comment to a different thread? PermStrump(talk) 07:00, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- No, I meant to post it here. Though should also have added that caps aren't going to be enough to distinguish in this case. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:05, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- I thought you were talking about a novel. What do you mean "dab page"? PermStrump(talk) 07:49, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- "dab page" refers to the disambiguation page, Moveable Feast, which now includes the book A Moveable Feast among other things. -- Pemilligan (talk) 13:38, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose. The disambiguation page now has many other entries; nothing indicates that the charity is the main use of this term; and the capitalized spelling is not sufficient distinction (and may just cause confusion). -- Pemilligan (talk) 13:38, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
