Wildfires or fires?
[edit]These aren't just fires; Israeli protective services estimate that more than 50% of these fires were arson. Also by definition, wildfires don't occur in urban areas; a lot of fires here on the other hand occurred in deep urban areas (such as apartment complexes) (this comment was posted by Ethanbas)
- Good point. Should move it.Lihaas (talk) 12:45, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Agree. The local English-language media call them "wildfires", but Wikipedia's own definition agrees with Ethanbas. I'm going to move it. --Smack (talk) 18:33, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
International help
[edit]Spain has also sent several firefighting planes. It's needed to include that fact. Source: http://politica.elpais.com/politica/2016/11/25/actualidad/1480064014_697207.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Poliorcetes (talk • contribs) 23:10, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

[edit]NRG reported that in Jerusalem alone there had been 2054 arsons in 2016 http://www.nrg.co.il/online/1/ART2/848/680.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.19.119.53 (talk) 18:41, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

Airbnb helps Haifa fire evacuees find places to stay
[edit]Airbnb has set up an emergency service to help match people willing to open their houses and apartments with those left homeless by the wave of fires that is sweeping across Israel, as covered by Times of Israel, Haaretz and in this tweet. Sokuya (talk) 11:00, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Additions
[edit]The first sentence misses a verb :"200 fires broke out ". Also, could you please also show areas in km² (besides acres and dunnam)? Julien Daux (talk) 13:37, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
Arson attacks as a new form of terrorism
[edit]PM of israel including misterst and government officials say that, and arrested suspects in action. why is that encyclopedia facts is missing from the Background chapter in the article ?מינוזיג (talk) 14:39, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
Background section ban against loud muslim call to prayer
[edit]Israeli parliament shortly before these fires passed a bill banning loud muslim calls to prayer in Israel, and many arab sources (and correspondingly israeli sources) have noted this, so this should be included in the Background section. This is a specific motivation for the arson terrorism, beyond just the usual arab anti-israeli protest Ethanbas (talk) 05:07, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- The bill was dropped out before it reached a parliamentary vote. Anyway this is something mentioned in Arab tweets and not a sincere motive until there is proof.--Bolter21 (talk to me) 08:32, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, didn't know it was dropped. Can you give me a news report? Everything I read made me think it passed, but maybe Hebrew language media (which I rarely read) gave an update. Ethanbas (talk) 21:49, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
The estimated damage and cost
[edit]The fire damage is set to exceed 2B, according to Ynet News[1] This would be the costliest fire wave in Israeli history topping the Carmel fire 6 years ago both in area burned and cost. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.67.133.172 (talk) 12:51, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

The lead is no longer correct
[edit]The lead says 'In 22 November a wave of fires (both wildfires and urban fires) began in Israel from south as the Dead Sea area to Nahariya' , but it is now raveled that fires had been in the Lahav forest and the Dvir forest.
