She's not Jewish at all. Who even came up with that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.49.95.6 (talk) 02:29, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

There. I added a very reputable source. Thank you! Belicia (talk) 20:38, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just for editors to note as I cannot edit the article due to it being semi-protected, the citation required between the 3rd and 4th footnote can be found within the link of the 2nd footnote itself, the link is: http://www.pe.com/localnews/morenovalley/stories/PE_News_Local_M_mspot24.deb4716.html Stamford Yao (talk) 09:33, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish-American

[edit]

Yep, she's Jewish:

Ms. Yustman, 23, the Jewish daughter of parents of Cuban, Italian and French backgrounds

[1] You need change descent to Jewish. --Gwaron (talk) 14:24, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Her paternal grandmother and mother were / are almost certainly not Jewish (her grandmother's parents both had Italian last names). I think it is possible that Yustman's paternal grandfather was Jewish or of Jewish descent, but it's really hard to say. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 22:16, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, do you guys really say that in the US? I can understand African-American or Asian-American, but Jewish-American? How do you call non-Jewish people, do you have denominations like Christian-American? Atheist-American? What if you're Black and a Jew, are you a Jewish-African-American or an African-Jewish-American? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.80.174.165 (talk) 11:19, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some people do say that, but very few would say things like that in day to day conversation. Why was that in the lead sentence anyway? Most other biographical articles don't mention race/religion in the opening sentence. Unless for some reason her Judaism is particularly notable it shouldn't be there, and definately shouldn't be hyphenated. Mad031683 (talk) 17:33, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Jewish-American" is said, but usually not in a nice way ... it's usually appended with "Princess". "Jewish" will do just fine. - Revolving Bugbear 20:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The term "Jewish-American" is certainly used (i.e. Italian-American or Irish-American), for example the White House's Jewish American Heritage Month. But no, her ethnicity shouldn't be in the opening, per WP:MOSBIO (it should be later down in the article). However, I am not convinced with this reference, "The Jewish People's Almanac" 2007. I can't find any evidence that this book really exists (there were previous editions, but nothing on 2007). Does anyone have any proof that this reference is valid? All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 06:11, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have to say, I've never heard the term "Jewish-American" used in a positive context outside Washington. And what Washington does isn't always necessarily connected to reality, no matter who's in office. But if you say it's used, I'll bow to your judgment.
As far as the reference goes, that's a question for User:Belicia, who has been campaigning to get it put in. - Revolving Bugbear 17:46, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to add that User:Belicia has been shown to be sock-puppet. It can be safely assumed that anything s/he tried to add is nonsense. 68.73.85.6 (talk) 06:51, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like Belicia is back in another sockpuppet form, User:Brasil_Miami_Connexion. 68.73.85.6 (talk) 06:57, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish is an ethnicity and a religion...One can be Christian and still Jewish (ethnically). So Jewish-American is fine. "Yustman" -- she clearly descends from a family of either Sephardic or Ashkenazic Jews who settled in Latin America. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.251.194.221 (talk) 16:48, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of European Jews settled in South America shortly before WWII - maybe her father's parents were Italian and French Jews. But there's no source that I can find. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 06:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To the IP, if it is so clear, then you should have no trouble finding a credible source stating as such. Interestingly, while numerous people have insisted that Odette is Jewish (however contorted the def), the only source ever offered was one that was fabricated. 64.241.37.140 (talk) 02:44, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Far more ethnic Germans settled in South America than Jews. And Justmann is a not so uncommon German surname. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.153.204.26 (talk) 22:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Unborn Poster Shows Off Odette Yustman's... Assets...

[edit]

I've been tryin to add this but some jackass around here keeps on removing it. Heres some proof, provided by here, "Empire Online snagged the int'l poster for David S. Goyer's (The Dark Knight) latest, The Unborn. The film (and poster) features Cloverfield's Odette Yustman as a young woman who may be slowly falling prey to a spiritual possession. We like the bold statement this poster makes. Yes, the movie should be pretty freaky. Yes, it was written and directed by one of Hollywood's biggest new hitmakers...but it also has Odette Yustman's butt...and that goes a long way in this business." There does that work, motherfucker?!

Um, from what I can see after a quick skim of the article's history, I think the problem goes two ways. The administrator here who continued to revert what you tried to add did so because your edit clearly seem to be nothing more than NPOV fangush — to put it mildly — over that revealing poster. Not until your last edit did you clarify by adding a source that indicated it might be otherwise. I suggest you add more refs that back up what you say in future editing, in order to avoid further such confrontations. That's my two cents, anyway. — Cinemaniac (talkcontribs) 01:09, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To confirm Cinemaniac's recap, that is the exact reason it was removed. It appeared to be an unsourced statement that was not written in encyclopedic fashion. With the source provided in the article, my objection was addressed. Alansohn (talk) 02:45, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The "references"

[edit]

Could somebody please read WP:CITE and format the footnotes in this article properly? They're almost totally malformed and tell the reader nothing about the sources cited without clicking the links individually. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:30, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Engaged?

[edit]

"She was engaged to Trevor Wright." Meaning, what, she's not engaged any more? Also, Trevor Wright's wiki article makes no mention of Odette, which is odd. Or is it a matter of tense? In any case, somebody should do something about this imo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.133.127.33 (talk) 13:44, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, they broke up. Apparently she's now with Dave Annabele, but not too sure on that. 68.127.239.196 (talk) 03:28, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth

[edit]

In compliance with our policies regarding inclusion of birth dates, a date of birth cannot be added unless it is has been "widely published by reliable sources". Note that tertiary websites such as IMDB and celebrity databases do not meet the criteria, and geneological searches such as familysearch.org cannot be used as the sole reference for reasons explained here and here. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:48, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
