Notability?
[edit]OpenMW is software that has been around for over 6 years[nota 1] and doesn't fall under "A7: Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject". It's purpose is the re-implementation of the Morrowind game engine to allow Morrowind to be played on Linux, Mac and Windows using modern hardware. This is contrast to Skywind which is just a mod that recreates Morrowind inside of Skyrim. One of the lead developers of OpenMW is also the lead developer of OpenAL-Soft. OpenMW has been mentioned in the Bullet_(software) page and the List_of_game_engine_recreations and is worthy of being included as an article on wikipedia. Psi29a (talk) 15:54, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- The CorenSearchBot is in error, I cited from the FAQ itself. The moddb entry was copy & pasted from the OpenMW FAQ. Psi29a (talk) 16:20, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
Useless screenshots
[edit]I'm removing the completely pointless screenshots of nearly nothing. The article doesn't even say what "Example Suite" is, and we have no encyclopedic purpose in illustrating some CG crude polygons that look like computer animation from ca. 1986. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 02:39, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I have nothign against better material, but while this was not great this at least illustrates: a working engine and the status of the content creation. Do you have something better? Shaddim (talk) 10:36, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, the sourced text indicating there's a working engine and the status of content creation. Image-wise, what we probably want is screenshots of actual gameplay that don't show any Bethesda-copyrighted resources; this is probably best done with stuff from Project: Tamriel and Tamriel Rebuilt, who have put together a tremendous number of all-new game resources, in a consolidated collection. Would probably need to be something built for this purpose in OpenMW-CS, to ensure no Bethesda images are included. I can ask about it on one of their forums. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 02:10, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
- Request made at the PT forum. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 02:27, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
- They're looking into it. It's fairly challenging, since at lot of what they've created has some Bethesda elements in it. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 02:06, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
Needs more content
[edit]There are more than enough sources now to establish notability. However, this stub is very skeletal. The corresponding article at UESPwiki is much better in many respects (though not written in the style of a WP article). — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 02:48, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
