Career Education Corporation is launching www.blish.com - "The easiest place to buy or sell digital contenttm". I recently received a blantly incorrect SPAM message that referred to an earlier e-mail that they had sent, but i never received, --Samatva 21:53, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Central Processing

[edit]

Unsure of the what the significance of this is. I should think that the article should lead off with a history. I have not been able to find any citation for this concept. I am inclined to delete it as unsourced and irrelevant or add a history section in its place.Mysteryquest 22:48, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and deleted the section from the article and moved it here in case someone disagrees with the deletion.Mysteryquest 22:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In recent years, CEC has set up the Central Processing Center (CPC) at its office in Hoffman Estates to centralize all student funds (Title IV, Private Loans), to increase revenues and mimimize audit findings. CEC continues to enroll schools into the Central Processing Center. This plays an important role for CEC as its revenues are depended on enrollment of students and most student apply for financial aid. Therefore, CEC's revenues directly corrolate with financial aid given to students.

federal scrutiny

I updated the sentence about the Dept of Educ. investigation that resulted in a hold on new campus or acquisitions, and added a referring link to official documents, and removed the out of date MSNBC link.

  • Reply--per that link the holds have yet to be removed. It states: "Based on this review and other specific concerns raised by the ED, the ED has advised the Company that it will re-evaluate the ongoing general restrictions imposed pursuant to its June 2005 . . ."--Utahredrock 02:24, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are point of view problems with the rest of the paragraph, hopefully someone can take the time to address these.StevenBradford 06:58, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted a link added by the user Ourstance to what appears to be the user's blog. I did not see how the link contributed to the article. WeisheitSuchen 02:48, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bloated management section removed

[edit]

After three edits [1] [2] [3] that served only to add additional positions to the "Management" section, coming from an IP address that resolves to mailout.careered.com, I deleted the whole section. I don't understand the point of listing officers in a WP article anyway, particularly since there were two "President"s listed. Rpresser 18:25, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected title

I removed a false reference to an employee who was misidentified in job title and potentially libeled by the person who posted the information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MDS CareerEducation (talkcontribs) 22:47, 22 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Social Responsibility section

[edit]

An unregistered editor has begun an edit war to include a "Social Responsibility" section in this article. It's a rather large section that appears to be nothing more than a collection of puff pieces about this corporation. In fact, two of the three sources - this one and this one - are press releases written by the corporation. The third source is from a publication with which I am unfamiliar but appears to be legit although quite narrowly focused. In any case, including this mass of information especially without adequate sourcing seems to be a violation of WP:NPOV. ElKevbo (talk) 22:04, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've since removed the material and only later did I notice that it was copied from the company's website. ElKevbo (talk) 16:11, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like the Social Responsbility section added back in. Perhaps it seems like "puff pieces" to you but the children and adults who were supported with meals offered by CEC volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House might disagree with you. The fact is the company offers a paid day off to its employees every year to help others and has supported RMH for several many years. How many companies do that? And, in the case of the Le Cordon Bleu Chef who also Won an Award for bringing Christmas treats to Veterans...who otherwise may end up alone during the holiday..probably worth mentioning since we suppport our vets. I mean come on. Shouldn't every school offer a Social Responsbility section? 216.49.218.2 (talk) 21:25, 23 January 2015
This is an encyclopedia article, not a promotional brochure for this company. We include information that is essential for readers to know about this topic, ideally information from third-party sources. Not only was this information copied from the company's website but it's unnecessary information with little evidence that it's of recognized importance.
You also indicated that you are related to this company ("we support our vets [emphasis added]"). If that's true, you probably shouldn't be editing this article and you definitely need to review our conflict of interest guidelines. ElKevbo (talk) 21:58, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I don't see an educational institution's corporate social responsibility as simply "promotional"...especially if the event is conceived by educators and students as an act of goodwill or giving back to the community and can lead to community employers giving students the opportunities for internships or jobs. You can actually find a great definition of its importance right on the Corporate Social Responsility Wiki page if you care to look. It's very well addressed and supported.

In addition (and also addressed on the Wiki CSR page), if you take a look at many university pages, you will notice they now have sections for "Sustainability". Would you argue that writing that an institution morphing into cleaner energy is also promotional? Because that was another section I thought to add. I apologize if you were confused when I said "our" veterans. When I used that word I simply referred to "our" being this country's veterans. Just fresh off seeing American Sniper....

I did cite all the CSR events and can do it again if there is any question to whether or not the events were real. Thank you.

Some proposed changes

[edit]

.

Information to be added or removed: All current references to "Career Education Corporation" (Including the main page title) and "CECO" should be changed to "Perdoceo Education Corporation" and "PRDO". The company issued a press release and SEC filing, so there should not need to be "further press" for the change to be notable.

Additionally, the company's logo should be updated to the current Perdoceo logo. Also, the financial data on the summary at right of page should be updated to the most recent publicly available information, and specifically, the operating figure even for 2016 is factually incorrect. The company's enrollment data should be updated to the most recent as disclosed in company earnings.

Explanation of issue: The company recently changed its name to Perdoceo Education Corporation, and much of the information on the page is very outdated or incorrect. Bhair20 (talk) 21:53, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I oppose this change. Changing 'all current references' is excessive. There is extensive media coverage of 'Career Education Corporation' and almost none of Perdoceo. I have updated this article to mention the name change. When the Perdoceo name gets significant coverage, a new article can be created, and this 'Career Education Corporation' article treated as historical.Dialectric (talk) 22:07, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Dialectric that it's unnecessary and undesirable to change all of the names in this article, especially when discussing the company's history. I disagree, however, that we should create a new article just because the company has changed its name; it's still the same company and we just need to move this article to the new name and ensure that appropriate redirects exist from the old name (which usually happens automatically). ElKevbo (talk) 02:44, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Name change to Perdoceo. This page needs editing.

[edit]

Right now, this page is the redirect for Perdoceo Education Corporation. How do we change this so that Perdoceo Education Corporation is the title of the page? sorry. Just noticed the comments above. At what point would it be reasonable forthe new name be the title of the page? CollegeMeltdown (talk) 22:56, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
