[edit]... are there any sources whatsoever that confirm that this was originally an official sequel farmed out to third-party sources as oppsed to simply a Punch-Out ripoff? It seems highly unlikely that Nintendo would say "Well, since we can't have Tyson, we don't want to do the game at all" and turn it over to an American and Australian company, since that contradicts the fact that Punch-Out was re-released without Tyson (without being famred out to third-party companies) and a sequel without Tyson was released for the SNES (without being farmed out to third-party companies). - 76.105.67.208 17:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Three years on, and still no references for this game being designed as a sequel to Punch-Out, not even unreliable ones. I'd say that pretty much confirms your suspicion that it is a hoax. I'll go delete it now.--Martin IIIa (talk) 22:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Three years further, and people are citing a vague IGN article with unsourced data. The original ROM of "Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Power Punch" has been recovered, and guess what? It's still credited as an American Softworks production. And if it was being commissioned by Nintendo, why wouldn't it be branded Punch-Out!! to begin with? I think this hoax/rumor deserves a debunking sort of mention in-article. LupintheThird (talk) 23:40, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
Video game magazines
[edit]In 1991 to 1992, video game magazines GamePro, EGM, the other one I can't remember, and Game Players Nintendo Guide all hyped this game and reported it as such to be the "sequel" to Punch-Out, then they all backed off and forgot the game existed once released because of how poor the title is (their opinions, not mine). Be logical, as well, and consider why the name of the game is Power Punch II. 68.96.214.115 (talk) 19:28, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
