@Guerillero: sorry if I trod on your toes a bit with the change, it's just that as far as I can make out, "Bavarian-style" isn't really a thing and the linked article doesn't mention such a concept. Bavaria produces a huge range of beers, from light lagers to wheat beers to darker drinks. Happy to go with something that gives the essence of what the source is saying, but we should be true to the source and accepted verifiable fact. The problem is that beer styles, as we know them, weren't really a thing at the time and "Saint Vincent Beer was a beer" is exceedingly ugly. The sources universally discuss the beer's Bavarian heritage. -- GuerilleroParlez Moi 13:24, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Amakuru: To engage in some original research, the beer would probably be described today as a Dunkel, a dark malted beer from Bavaria, if it were still brewed. Great FA, good work all around. My only critique: if this were a normal article I just came across, I’d axe the second footnote. It’s not like there could be an official name for this part of the archabbey’s history. “Beer Fuss” is a cute and snappy section title—I assume we don’t want yet another “Controversy” section—but I think it would suffice to say “an era variously known as the Beer Fuss or Beer Controversy”. --BDD (talk) 14:45, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Based on satellite imagery of Saint Vincent Lake, the rough coordinates are ‘ 40°17'46.8"N 79°24'09.9"W ’. I don’t know how to correctly add coordinates to a Wiki & if someone wants to check my work, please do.
