[edit]Sherrie shepherd DID attend Hoffman Estates High school. (she states that herself on her my space account. She DID Graduate in 1985 (also stated on her my space account) I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH HER! I know for a fact that her Year of birth is 1967. Stating that it is 1970 puts her graduating at 15 years old! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.106.222.40 (talk) 19:25, 21 February 2007 (UTC).
A birthdatabase.com search indicated she was born April 22, 1966, making her 19 at the time of graduation in 1985, not unheard of. I'm personally going with 1966. Hotwine8 00:56, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

"controversy"
[edit]Was she really the subject of "controversy"? If anything she was the subject of ridicule. I don't see the controversy though. thx1138 08:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- There isn't any controversy, or anything controversial about her 'statements' - they are flat out stupid. She should be the object of ridicule. --Kelt65 (talk) 16:45, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Made it "criticism". If anyone can show there was controversy about her opinions; such as A) a group vocally supporting her as correct; or at the very least B) A group vocally supporting her to express her belief structure. From what I can see all sources point out it was a stupid statement that made Shepherd look stupid. And same goes for the latest attempt at theological insight.--ZayZayEM (talk) 03:14, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
removing inappropriate cats
[edit]Okay. Perhaps she is a creationist, or an anti-intellectualist (whatever that means), or whatever. However, nothing in this article, except maybe one incident seems to be pertinent to this. If she's some sort of creationist activist, some of these categories might be appropriate. Otherwise, no. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 20:00, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Talk page
[edit]This is not a Sherri Shepherd forum. Try her personal website, it has forums (they don't seem strongly moderated either).
I will be enforcing WP:FORUM policy unless there is significant and credible objection.--ZayZayEM (talk) 02:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I know that this is not a forum, am very well aware of that policy, and do not object to the certain removal of sections that you made to this talk page. Flyer22 (talk) 05:34, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
Interview
[edit]A website called "Watching the View" has a three part interview with shepherd online; available here [1]. I've read enough Shepherd info for one day (probably a week). So if anyone wants to try and expand her pre-career and early career bio bits, go ahead.--ZayZayEM (talk) 03:11, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
African American
[edit]There is nothing wrong with stating her race in the lead. I will point out that she is listed in an African American category, Category:African-American actors. Someone reading this article, which has no photo may not realise Shepherd is black. It's a far better and more specific descriptor than "American" with a link to United States.--ZayZayEM (talk) 05:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- I find listing "[ ] is an African American (or whatever "race" that person is) actress, singer or whatever...as silly. To me, it's no different than listing Angelina Jolie's race in the lead of her article. It's like asking, "Well, what type of actress is she?" And someone says, "An African American actress." It's just silly. Her "race" can be mentioned within the body of her article, but it's not supposed to be listed in the lead of her article per Wikipedia lead policy concerning ethnicity...unless her "race" has a great deal to do with why she's famous. In this case, it does not. In other words, her "race" is not a big part as to why she's famous. Flyer22 (talk) 06:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Would you reply, "An American actress".
- "American" is an ethnicity. I'll follow MOS on this though. --ZayZayEM (talk) 09:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, there's a chance that I would reply, "An American Actress"...but I would not most likely reply with that. Someone asking what type of actress usually means in what field, stage, television or film...or style, like a character actress, of course. And I don't think of American as an ethnicity, considering how many different ethnicities live in America. Plenty of different ethnicities live in Africa as well, but when someone says, "African American"...they are usually talking about "race", a person who is usually defined as African American. Anyway, we've settled this topic. Now we can further improve this article together. Flyer22 (talk) 02:42, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Sources please...
[edit]Ok. Links are great but please try and avoid brandishing blogs as primary (or reliable) sources. Try and use a footnote that points to the original source.
If the statement was made in an episode of The View, you can use that as a footnote:
- {{cite episode | series = The View | serieslink = The View | airdate = dd-mm-yyyy | season = n | number = n | network = [[American Broadcasting Company]] }}
If you have a blog entry that directs you to an interview in a newspaper, magazine or radio station - please reference that original source - even if you don't have direct access to it. If you feel more comfortable, you can still include a link to the blog etc - but don't get upset if someone removes that link (its superfluous, and may seem like its promoting the blog), or if someone removes your material saying it conflicts with the actual primary source (unless you can show that they are bluffing).
Also, Being dissed on a blog, even a pseudo-celeb status one like Perez Hilton, does not amount to widespread or notable criticism.--ZayZayEM (talk) 07:29, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
voting
[edit]It says, "Shepherd also garnered ridicule after admitting to never voting because she just "never knew the dates or anything"; she stated, "I've never voted for anything in my life."[9][10]"
However she has since registered to vote and voted for the 2008 presidential election. That should be followed up on. 12.162.122.6 (talk) 19:45, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
The Newlywed Game
[edit]Chrismaster1 (talk) 18:12, 8 September 2010 (UTC)When did Sherri start hosting the Newlywed Game because every episode I've seen still has the other host...
Son
[edit]Her son Jeffrey was born VERY early and according to one site she was pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl, but miscarried the girl, then Jeffery was born but with "Bleeding on the brain" and a "Hole in his artery and instestine". Should there be a mention of this somewhere? http://www.celebritybabies.info/index.php/category/sherri-shepherd/ http://celebritybabies.people.com/2007/01/13/sherri_shepherd-2/ SashaJohn (talk) 23:48, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Abortion
[edit]Why does the article not mention that she had a lot of abortions? See these links: [2] [3] [4]. I was hoping I could add it to the article, but was thinking it might be a controversial move. Estheroliver (talk) 23:38, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Her age, date of birth
[edit]People, Us Weekly and other sources give her age as 47, without specifying a birth date. That means she was born in 1967 if she's already had her birthday this year or 1966 if her birthday is yet to come this year. TV Guide, however, at http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/sherri-shepherd/bio/190932, gives her birth date as April 22, 1970. Since the TV Guide year does not seem to be widespread, suggesting it's incorrect, we can't trust the TV Guide claim of April 22 either. We really need a reliable-source citation before we can say April 22, 1967.
Also, we need RS cites if we're going to claim she has sisters and where she purportedly went to school. That's just basic WP:BLP and WP:VERIFY.--Tenebrae (talk) 21:27, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
Personal-life section
[edit]An anon IP had added a paragraph arguing what Sherri Shepherd's next legal steps could be following the April 21 court ruling. It was POV essaying and WP:SYNTH, as well as WP:CRYSTAL. I would ask the anon IP to please read these policies/guidelines and refrain from making well-intended but violative edits. --Tenebrae (talk) 04:44, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Sherri Shepherd filmography
[edit]Support split - Filmography section takes up more than one quarter of the page, and should be split to a new article entitled Sherri Shepherd filmography. Thoughts? --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:18, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Emmy nominations
[edit]The lede states: "Shepherd was a co-host of the daytime talk show The View, for which she received multiple Daytime Emmy Award nominations, winning one in 2009." It sounds as though Shepherd singularly won multiple Daytime Emmy Award; when in reality it was the show (ensemble) that was nominated. Shepherd shares nearly all of her Awards and nominations with other actors, hosts, etc. In reading another actor on 30 Rock, Scott Adsit's lede states: "Adsit is known for his role as Pete Hornberger, the well-meaning but jaded executive producer, on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, which won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2008." Sheperd's lede is misleading and should be worded similar to Adsit's. Maineartists (talk) 22:55, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- It wasn't
the show (ensemble) that was nominated
or won the Emmy(s); it was the show's hosts, one of which was Shepherd. This is supported by reliable sources describing her as an Emmy winner.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11] The rationale for the proposed change in phrasing suggests that Shepherd wasn't the recipient of the Emmy, which is incorrect. FWIW, I believe the phrasing in Adsit's article is incorrect as well. KyleJoantalk 06:51, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
