Name of venue[edit]

After doing as little research, I discovered the Superdome has an agreement with MB for only 10 years, so by the time SB LVIII takes place the agreement will have ended, so it's really the Louisiana Superdome. Shim119 (talk) 11:49, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NBC[edit]

While it is true that it would be NBC's turn in the Super Bowl network rotation, is there anything to verify that it will be NBC? As far as I knew, the deal with the current rotation (CBS, Fox, NBC) is to expire after Super Bowl LVII, which will be on Fox (February 2023). Johnsmith2116 (talk) 19:17, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's best to remove that sentence all together. Reports I have seen imply that the NFL is willing to listen to all options on the table for the next set of TV contracts, such as possibly giving more games to Disney/ABC,[1] getting rid of the separate AFC and NFC packages,[2] etc. Zzyzx11 (talk) 17:06, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If CBS Airs Super Bowl LV Then NBC Airs Super Bowl LVI But In The Next TV Contract Super Bowl LVIII Will Likely Air On CBS Not NBC Because They Can Not Air 2 Super Bowls In 3 Years. 68.103.78.155 (talk) 19:33, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Super Bowl LV was broadcasted on CBS so NBC can avoid the conflict for broadcasting the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. Abhiramakella (talk) 15:44, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Issue with link to next Super Bowl afterward[edit]

Clicking on the link to Super Bowl LIX (shown in the info box for the game after LVIII) just redirects to the page for the Super Bowl in general. If no one is going to make a page for Super Bowl LIX, then can we make the word “LIX” not clickable or make an article for it? Cameronszachta (talk) 05:46, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Really lame[edit]

I came to this article for the purpose of reading about the two conference championships. (As I write this, both the AFC and NFC games will be held 4 days from today.) Laughably, the article doesn't explain WHO is playing - all we read is that "the AFC" plays "the NFC". No, they don't. The AFC Championship TEAM plays the NFC Champs. (The two AFC contenders are the Ravens and the Chiefs and for the NFC it's the 49ers and the Lions with the respective winners playing two weeks later at the Superbowl.) I understand that this article started years ago, but the fact that the basics (Who, What, Why, Where, When, and How) aren't present is really lame. 98.21.213.85 (talk) 17:23, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody knows who's going to play yet. A bunch of trolls spent this weekend edit-warring over whether their favorite teams were playing, as if somehow someone were going to forfeit each conference championship game, so the article is protected against further trolling. If you want to read about the conference championship games, look at 2023–24 NFL playoffs. There's no reason why this article should duplicate content already set out there. By the way, there's no such thing as "the Superbowl." 1995hoo (talk) 17:50, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Logo conspiracy[edit]

Although it was disproven with the Chiefs win yesterday, should the Super Bowl logo conspiracy be added to the article? It seems like there's significant coverage of it for an addition in this article.

The favorite for this game is incorrect. Even if the 49ers were favored, it would not be by this wide of a margin. Mention of controversies[edit]

Should there be a section dedicated to controversies related to the game, such as allegations of rigging, the presence of an ad aired on behalf of Israel, and allegations that the Rafah offensive was intentionally timed to use the game as a distraction? Overtime possession rules[edit]

Should this be covered? Excerpt summary:

In the regular season, there’s one and only one overtime period. It lasts up to 10 minutes. If it ends with one team leading, that team wins. (It’s possible for one team to be leading, since regular-season overtime guarantees a second possession if the first one concludes with only a field goal. Time could run out before the team that got the second possession is able to score.) If it ends with the score tied, it’s a tie.

In the postseason, the end of the first overtime period doesn’t end anything. From the rulebook: “If the score is tied at the end of a 15-minute overtime period, or if the second team’s initial possession has not ended, another overtime period will begin, and play will continue, regardless of how many 15-minute periods are necessary.”

From: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/many-were-confused-as-the-seconds-ticked-away-in-super-bowl-lviii-overtime and covered in many other articles as well. Pdubs.94 (talk) 19:11, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seems reasonable to include something covering this topic somewhere, since it's the first time that this set of overtime rules were used. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 06:07, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, the rules change didn't actually make any difference here. The result would have been the same had the previous set of overtime rules been in place because the 49ers kicked a field goal (which didn't end the game under the old rules) and then the Chiefs bettered that by scoring a touchdown. The game not ending in the first overtime is nothing new because it's always been the case in postseason games (where there must be a winner) that the game continues until one team wins. The most recent double-overtime game was in 2012 when the Ravens beat the Broncos by kicking a field goal 1:42 into the second overtime. 1995hoo (talk) 20:54, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising issue[edit]

I recently added this line in the advertising section: "Two commercials, one through the Patriots owner Robert Kraft that urged people to "Stand up to Jewish Hate" and advocated for Palestinians, and another by the Israeli government highlighting the Israel-Hamas hostage crisis drew some criticism.". The change was recently reverted by @Jessintime as its "dishonest to link the Stand up to Jewish Hate commercial to Palestine. At the time I was only including information from a CBS News source which appears to include against all hate but I may have misread the article, if so my mistake.[7]https://www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/pro-israel-ads-in-super-bowl-lviii-send-message-to-nfl-audience-trigger-criticism/ Leaky.Solar (talk) 18:11, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comeback[edit]

Not once in the article does it mention the Chiefs overcame a 10-point defecit, even though it does in Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LIV. Can this be fixed please? I can’t edit the article as it is protected. 69.118.230.235 (talk) 22:15, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure it does. The game summary says the 49ers were up 10–0. If someone doesn’t understand that the Chiefs came back from a 10-point deficit, that person probably needs more help than a Wikipedia article can provide. 1995hoo (talk) 02:36, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It’s never explicitly stated. In Super Bowl LVIII, in the lede, it states After the Eagles went into halftime up 24–14, the Chiefs mounted a comeback to win the game 38–35 with a game-winning field goal kicked by Harrison Butker. In this article, it could read, Although the 49ers took a 10-0 lead late in the second quarter, the Chiefs mounted a comeback and won the game 25-22 in overtime after a Patrick Mahomes pass to Mecole Hardman. 69.118.230.235 (talk) 14:05, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Records of "zero"[edit]

Rockchalk717, you should follow WP:BRD and discuss after I reverted you, rather than revert again. Instead of edit war, I'll seek consensus. Regarding this revert, should records of "zero" be included? NBC Sports noted that there were no kickoff returns in the game. Sources also noted that there were no rushing touchdowns. Seems relevant enough to include to me. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:36, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
