What was there before?

[edit]

Out of curiosity, what did this stadium replace at the corner of 71st and Harlem? —Rob (talk) 15:39, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was a old industrial lost that had seen better days. --FIRExNECK (talk) 06:03, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Public Transportation?

[edit]

How could they have built this in a place that's inaccessible by public transit? About a third of Chicagoans don't have access to a car, and I'm guessing the demographic for soccer fans doesn't include as many SUV-drivers as Cubs and Sox fans. In the Fire's press release, they said it's easily accessible by public transportation. A pace bus transfer at the end of the Orange line in suburban Bridgeview is not what I call accessible. What gives?

what gives? heard of racism? how about classism? and let's not forget about good old american greed. but class is usually the number one reason for discrimination and bad city planning.

To the last poster here... Where do you propose that the mayor of Bridgeview and his cohorts SHOULD HAVE built THEIR stadium? Please, tell us Ms. Crying racism, where would have been a better place? Well I'll tell you since you don't know. No where because they could only build it in the town that they control. They were able to push this whole project against the will of the residents and even had to raise money through bonds etc to do so. This was done with profit in mind, not to make a nice place for a certain race of people to gather. They don't care who comes to spend their money at the venue. Think before you cry racism because that is not always the case.

World class

[edit]

I removed 'world class'from the intro, it maybe a term used in the press releases, but to call a simple 20k seats stadium 'world class' would laughed at in europe Romanista 11:25, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know I'm nine-years late to the party, but I'm still replying here. First, I'd like to say that was a good call. The use of 'world class' indeed was overtly promotional rather than impartial as an article should strive to portray its topic. On the otherhand, I would like to note that 'world class' has very little to do with size, and a lot more to do with quality though, but that's irrelevant here. One could state that it received a high rating from an official stadium quality accreditation if a source could be found, and that would be a unbiased claim. Simply referring to a venue (especially without a proper source) as 'world class' would be incorrect on Wikipedia as it sounds highly promotional, rather than factual.SecretName101 (talk) 02:24, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
