I am not deleting the page. I am merging it. The Business School only had more coverage in the main UM article because of all of the magazine rankings. There is nothing here that cannot be stated on the main UM article, and the Business School is certainly no more notable than the College of Arts & Sciences or the School of Architecture.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 20:57, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

There is consensus that the page should be moved away from its current title, but a clear absence of consensus for the proposed title, which is noted to have a degree of ambiguity. Requesting changes for infobox table

Hi! As an employee at the Miami Herbert Business School, I'm disclosing my conflict of interest with this page (you can see my disclosure on my user page here, too [2]). I've been asked as part of my job to help with this page and I've been learning about Wikipedia's conflict of interest rules. I've found out that a colleague had tried to edit the page before and wasn't following the rules, that's regrettable and something that I'm sure may make Wikipedia editors more cautious about me. While I'm still learning, I'll do my utmost to make sure I stay within the guidelines. Please let me know if there's anything I can be doing better!

To start out, I'd like to suggest some changes for the infobox table at the top of the page:

1. Delete the Motto and Motto in English. This is the University's motto, not the School's motto.
2. Change the Campus from Urban to Suburban. If you check the University of Miami page you'll see that it is listed as suburban and the School is in the same location.

@MT for University of Miami, those edits look mostly good; thanks for coming by to help improve the article. Just a few queries:

• Do you have a source for saying the campus setting is suburban? It appears to be unsourced at the university's page, and while consistency is good, precedent has limited value unless it's worth following.
• Per MOS:NICKNAME, I'm not sure the other names need to be included in the infobox, since they should be fairly intuitive to readers from the full name.
• Could you provide a source for the former names?

Hi @Sdkb and I Am Chaos! Thanks for making those two edits. That's very helpful about the page numbers in the citations, I've made those changes below and I can answer Sdkb's other questions, too.

The former names can be verified with this citation:

Coral Gables, the location of the school, is considered a suburb of Miami. In case it's still needed, I have a few citations that would verify this: NYT, Business Insider, and Petersons

Here are the details and citations (now with page numbers) for the student and faculty numbers:

Proposing a Programs section

Hi again! Now that the infobox table has been updated, I wanted to try to more cleanly and accurately present information about the business school's programs. The current Undergraduate business education and Graduate programs sections are out of date and not terribly well-sourced. I would like to suggest that those two sections be removed and replaced with a shorter, more organized Programs section that:

• Doesn't include degrees or programs that the school no longer offers
• Provides a broad overview of undergrad and graduate business degrees currently available to students, as well as the paths they take to earn those degrees
• Backs up claims with better and more up-to-date sourcing

I put a draft for this section on my user page so that I'm not cluttering this talk page too much. If any editors would like to take a look at it and either sign off on it or suggest ways I could improve the draft, I would really appreciate it.

Proposing changes to History section

Hello! I'm back again to fix a few issues with the page's History section. I've drafted a new version of the History and posted it to my user talk page. In that draft, I tried to:

• Find better sourcing for some claims in the current version of the History
• Remove claims that could not be sourced
• Remove mentions of deans who do not have their own Wikipedia pages
• Provide additional information about the school's recent name changes

This makes for a shorter but more solidly sourced History that focuses on events that have received a decent amount of media coverage. I work for the University of Miami, so I can't make these edits myself. Would someone please review my proposed History and either post it to the page or let me know what I can do to improve the draft? Thanks! Proposing changes to Rankings and statistics section

Hi, I'm back! I wanted to propose some updates to the Rankings and statistics section, which contains a lot of out-of-date information. Accreditation section and improved Notable alumni sourcing

Hi again! I had been looking at other business school Wikipedia pages and noticed that many of them include the school's accreditations, so I put together a new section called Accreditation and credentials that gathers notable accreditation Miami Herbert has received and its membership in the Graduate Management Admission Council. That draft, which is just a few sentences, is available for review on my user page.

I also wanted to clean up the article's Notable alumni section, as some of the citations contain poor sourcing or broken links. I have improved citations for the following alumni:

Improved Notable faculty sourcing

Hello! I noticed that this article's Notable faculty section doesn't have any sourcing or dates for when the faculty were active, so I thought I would go about trying to fix that. As well, I want to suggest cutting Aquiles Este since he is a lecturer and not faculty, and adding a couple of other faculty members who have Wikipedia pages. Here are my proposed references, corrections and new additions:

• Linda L. Neider, professor of management (1979–present)

• John Quelch, dean of business school (2017–present)

• Henrik Cronqvist, finance professor and vice dean (2015–present)

• Donna Shalala, University of Miami Board of Trustees Presidential Chair and professor emerita (2021–present)

Updates to Rankings section

Hello again! To any unfamiliar editors: I'm a University of Miami employee trying to keep the business school's page up to date and correct. Due to my COI, I'm proposing edits for independent editors to review. You can see a record of my previous requests above this post.

I'm here today to ask for a pair of updates to the Graduate program part of the page's Rankings section. U.S. News has released a new batch of MBA program rankings for 2022 and Corporate Knights recently placed Miami Herbert 5th nationally and 21st globally in its Better World MBA rankings. I would propose that the section look like this, with my suggested changes highlighted in green:

Graduate program

The school's MBA program was ranked 67th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in 2022. and 52nd by Poets & Quants. Also in 2021, Financial Times ranked the school's MBA program 93rd best in the world. The Economist ranked its MBA program the 77th best in the world and 34th best in the nation. In 2021, The Economist ranked Miami Herbert's MBA faculty as eighth best in the world. Corporate Knights's 2021 Better World MBA rankings, which evaluate how well business schools train their graduates to handle sustainability issues, placed Miami Herbert 5th nationally and 21st globally.

Thanks for the update. The annual updates on USNWR, Poets & Quants and Financial Times themselves appear accurate and should be made. The section is an assessment of overall academic programs, though, and preparation for sustainability is not commonly used. (I suppose one could arrive at a company, shut the entire operation down, thus eliminating any environmental burden at all, and have a perfect sustainable record and emerge top-ranked in such a vague category). But any updates to 2022 should be made to the overall MBA program and undergraduate BBA program. But if sustainability is a major--and I think I see that it is--including the ranking of that specific program (M.S.) would be reasonable. If it were any other business concentration (accounting, finance, etc.), it would likely be added. Just be sure that ranking applies to the concentration and is not broadly applied. And feel free to wait for any input from others, who may or may not see it differently. TheGables (talk) 14:33, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

I applied your updates minus the sustainability ranking, which seems issued by an environmental advocacy organization, not an academic ranking services or media outlet, and not applied to any specific university major or concentration. Thank you for reviewing my request, User:TheGables. I understand your hesitation on the Corporate Knights's Better World rankings. To be honest, looking closely at their stated methodology for the rankings, I'm not completely sure whether they're ranking the M.S. in Sustainable Business (MSSB) specifically or Miami Herbert's MBA program as a whole. I believe it's the latter, but you should judge for yourself. This is how CK explains precisely what they're ranking:

"Where schools have multiple MBAs: We will research the core courses for a second MBA program only if:

- The school offers both a Sustainability MBA program (NOTE: Not a sustainability specialization or stream within a generic MBA program) in addition to a generic MBA program; AND

- The latest student intake for the generic MBA program is higher than that of the Sustainability MBA program.

In the above case, we will research the core courses of the Sustainability MBA program (weighted: 50%) and that of the generic MBA program (weighted: 50%). Therefore, if a school offers both a generic MBA program and a Sustainability MBA program, and the Sustainability MBA program has the highest student intake, then we will research only one MBA program: the Sustainability MBA program."

Given that enrollment in Miami Herbert's generic MBA program is much higher than enrollment in the MSSB., I think that means that, while the MSSB is a factor in CK's Better World rankings, it only accounts for 50 percent of their assessment. Does that make sense to you? If it does and you want to add the CK's ranking, that's terrific. If you're still hesitant and think it would be better to let other editors review, that also seems totally reasonable. Thanks again for helping out! Hello! With the Rankings now up to date, I wanted to make a few suggestions to improve the Notable alumni and Notable past and present faculty sections. Below, I've listed names of notable alumni and faculty with sourcing that links them to the university's business school.

Notable alumni additions:

• Andy Unanue, managing partner of AUA Private Equity Partners
• Mark Richt, former University of Miami head football coach
• Dan Radakovich, University of Miami athletic director
• Patti and Allan Herbert, philanthropists

(If Patti and Allan Herbert don't meet editors' idea of "notability," that's fair, but I included them since they are important figures in the business school's history, as evidenced by the fact that their names have been on it since 2019.)

Notable faculty additions:

• Alex Azar, senior executive in residence
• Yadong Luo, professor of international business strategy
• Noah Williams, professor of economics

I would also like to suggest a few updates to the Notable past and present faculty section:

• Henrik Cronqvist's title should read "former vice dean and professor, finance" because he's now at Chapman University
• Neil Wallace's title should read "former professor, economics" because he's now at Penn State
• Aquiles Este's title should read "lecturer, brand management" because "professor" is not the title assigned to him by the university
• Julio Frenk should be removed from the section; he technically holds a position as a professor at the business school, but he doesn't actually teach any classes there

Requesting 2023 infobox updates

Hi there! I've returned to this Talk page to request a few updates to the article, since there have been some changes at the business school over the past few months. First, I have staffing and enrollment numbers for the infobox, which are accurate as of July 2022. They are:

• Academic staff: 153
• Students: 4,535
• Undergraduates: 3,388
• Postgraduates: 1,147

I also wanted to suggest that the Dean field be updated. John Quelch, who moved on from his post as the business school's dean in January 2022, has been replaced by Ann N. Olazabal, on an interim basis. Maybe we put "Ann M. Olazabal (interim)" in that field?

Thanks so much, User:TheGables! I also wanted to ask if you thought adding a couple sentences about John Quelch's departure from the school is notable enough to be included in the History section. Maybe, at the end of the section, something like:

In December 2022, John Quelch stepped down as the business school's dean. He was replaced on an interim basis by Ann M. Olazabal.

As a source, you could use that second one from my initial post above. (And my apologies, I just realized that in that post, I got the date wrong. Quelch moved on in Dec '22, not Jan '22.) User:TheGables: Quelch's departure was the result of a deliberate process. Per that Forbes piece cited above, the university announced in October '22 that he would be stepping down after a little over five years as head of the business school, and taking a year-long sabbatical. One note: would you mind adding Quelch back to the Notable past and present faculty section as "former dean"? I know "notable" is a term that's up for interpretation, but given that he was an important figure within the school and has his own Wikipedia article, I believe he qualifies.

Asking about triple crown accreditation

Hello! I noticed that User:ElKevbo recently made some edits to the page that cut material they deemed superfluous. I understand that and trust their judgment. I know that as a COI editor, I can merely make suggestions, and it's up to independent editors to decide which content lives up to the site's content standards. However, I did want to ask about one particular edit, because I think I can make a solid case that a version of the excised material should remain on the page. ElKevbo, you removed the following passage:

In September 2022, Miami Herbert Business School was awarded AMBA accreditation, securing triple crown accreditation status, which includes accreditation by EQUIS, AACSB International, and AMBA. Less than one percent of the world's business schools have been recognized with accreditation from all three of these academic accrediting bodies.

I believe that I understand why. That sentence about "less than one percent of business schools" is borderline promotional. But triple crown accreditation is a notable achievement within the business school world, and it has its own Wikipedia page, which Miami Herbert is featured on, from which I understand that the Wikipedia community recognizes it as significant too. Would a more modest version of that passage be acceptable? A suggestion:

In September 2022, Miami Herbert was awarded AMBA accreditation, which secured the school triple crown accreditation status.

Hello again! I'd like to request that the infobox staff and enrollment figures be updated. The most current ones I could find are as follows:

• Academic staff: 196
• Students: 4,176
• Undergraduates: 3,175
• Postgraduates: 1,001
